Paris flipping. (5 Viewers)

I traded for some Paris $2s recently and would love some Paris $1s close to at cost if anyone is willing. I’m not picky about condition either. I could possibly return the favor in the Fall (I will be in Vegas for a bachelor party and I plan to do some harvesting then).

Bro you post about these Grimaud jumbo setups so much that I’ve began hunting for them as well. So when I find one I gotchu for a setup at no markup. Honestly, I’d prolly give it to you free because of you’re unwavering dedication to the cause.
I’ve probably spent over 200 hours searching online (especially websites from France) trying to find a source. I think at this point it’s going to be a craigslist/kijiji (leboncoin.fr) type find more than a storefront.

do you have any pics of what you are looking for?

I'm not interested in Paris chips...

But if I was, paying whatever markup any flipper wants to charge is a shitload cheaper than a plane ticket to Las Vegas.

This is interesting. A round trip flight from Atlanta to Las Vegas is $300 in mid-August. At $275 for a rack of $1s, you “profit” at two or more racks.

It gets trickier when you try to value time spent travelling/harvesting versus utility in Vegas. (I’m excluding lodging, food, and entertainment costs since one presumably enjoys the Vegas vacation.)

Good analysis. The plane ticket is probably the least expensive part of the trip, unless I wanted specifically to go to Vegas for some other purpose already (like a vacation).

All this talk about the $1s almost buries the lead. It’s those fives. And I couldn’t expect somebody to flip those for a ten percent tip. Do we think people pay over a grand for PCA fives because they love PCA? Yeah yeah, leaded shaped textured, all true. But mint THC $5s are practically a grail in any form. And for a couple of weeks in June you could just walk up and buy them? That’s something special. I would have gotten a bank loan.

Harvesting live $5's with the current market is the way to go. I'd be building a set if there is a $5 out there worth building around. The current THC molded $5's out there that I know of just don't do it for me. The Circus Circus $5's are the closest but even still, it's a hard sell for me.

But if you want to build an actual casino set with chips in great condition that are obtainable, the Paris chips are definitely the way to go. Just need another white $1 to relabel as a frac and you're good to go.

It's not cheap, but I've always thought the BTP $2 would make the best frac for Paris as it has the french flag in the edgespot.

The Flamingo $5 is a pretty sweet THC chip as well... just hard to get many in good condition.

I have to say, this cuts deep. I've sold all my chips at a fair market price. Because the market value is a price agreed on. When buying something, I don't think I've ever asked a seller, "how much did you pay for what I am trying to buy?" and "how hard was it to obtain what I am trying to buy?" and then factor that into a new deal I'm trying to make. those two things are pretty much irrelevant.

I commend you for doing the leg work and selling them at cost. You are basically taking a $250 item and gifting it to another member for only $100. That is very nice of you. Charitable work. My wife and I donate to charities often, but never once have I thought that I should donate, or gift, my hard earned money to upper/middle class chip collectors. I'd rather help food banks and animal shelters. So if I own near mint THC chips, I am going to make an appropriate ask, regardless of where or how I got them, and how much they cost me.

Sorry, I just had to share my opinion because I read through this thread and it got me really depressed. Since reading this thread, two other members have messaged me for Paris chips, and the first sentence in my response, was check with danny first or try to find them cheaper if you can. I'll continue to do that if you generous chippers have some to spare.

Ballys 1s. I wasn’t harvesting them but I should have been. It’s hard to find new 1s. The 5s were easier

@RivieraDanny,
Nice job my friend. This place had a different vibe to it when I first joined and I want to thank you for bringing a little bit of that back.
There is no way I could have ever assembled what I’ve assembled in this hobby as it is today, even in my “upper middle class” spot on the food chain.

I personally like donating to St. Jude’s myself but it’s always nice seeing someone give back to the community in which they spend their time in.

Look forward to dinner and cigars next weekend, safe travels to you and the family.

Don’t take it personal. Harvest and sell away.

People can offer it at cost or above cost.

Don’t get caught up in the drama of prices and flipping etc. It’s the same 20 people talking about it. Most knows the service you offer. And it’s extremely helpful.

With a forum like this is everyone has an opinion. You are never going to get people to agree on anything let alone the pricing of chips and the labor to get them. In addition, people can chose their donations and charity work as they wish. No need to get into that…no stress!!! Sell away at what you can! And others can do what they want! But in 6 months, these paris $1 will be $3/chip again lol.

Derrick,
It shouldn’t cut deep or even slightly. This was a no brainer. We were in Vegas anyway. There was absolutely NO RISK in getting unlimited amounts of chips. Hell before I came everyone made it seem like it was an act of god to get the chips especially the $2’s, and I bought 1 over priced rack! The other 12 I got reduced the price for me!! Last night they wanted to get rid of $2’s so racks are everywhere and far from rare…. I upcharged the racks by valet fees and gas as the time was simply 15 minutes per 8 racks!! It’s nothing personal it’s just that chips are expensive now and there is NO NEED for these chips to be expensive.

I dunno man, you’ve got a nice little side hustle going. I don’t think many people will fault you for it and I bet plenty are greatful. So market conditions screwed up your hustle for one casino for a short time? That’s how things go. I wouldn’t take it personally. I wouldn’t ask you to sell me paris chips at face value, and I wouldn’t assume you’d be angry if I bought them from Danny at face value. So everybody’s good.

Fair enough. Happy to send chippers your way if they need some 1s.

Absolutely. Everyone's good. Thanks for the unbiased summary. Sounds about right to me.

And please don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining about the price falling. That was expected.
I’d say a rack of near mint Ballys 1s are now more valuable as a frac since many more sets with Paris chips are out there. You have to work for them though. When the poker room reopens in August I might make a trip.

Yeah. They pair up great with the Paris 1s. I started hoarding them when they announced the rebranding.
