A new Aussie Chipper's first Premium chip set? (1 Viewer)

Currently deliberating between using a reshipping service to purchase another Chipper's HSI Primary set in Calissifieds:
Total around $1300 USD I'd say, to get it to Australia

$.25 x 100 ( overlabelled HSI primary snappers)
$1 x 200
$5 x 200
$25 x 80
$100 x 20

Or the local set for $2200USD, HSI mint Secondary cash set with the breakdown:

$1 x 300
$5 x 360
$25 x 60
$100 x 40
$500 x 20

Fatigued thinking about it constantly. Aesthetically, condition wise and ease of acquiring I prefer the Secondary set. For the price and the fracs which I need, I prefer the Primary set. Part of me wishes both would get snapped up and I can get on with my life

Hey fam starting to put together some orders. I have read plenty of posts so not trying to be lazy here BUT - trying to determine what my workhorse chips are and would love some opinions for a 25c/50c cash game and a STT T25 set in order to optimise for my fave colors and designs.

I believe the answer is 25c & $1 for cash (based on my timid group where buy-ins are $10 but I will be encouraging at least $30 moving forward to avoid nickel micro stakes)

And for STT it would be T100 & T1000. Is it true T25 and T500 get the least action by way of primarily being blinds chips? Always see the T500 suggested order quantities relatively low.

I have made some purchases and verbal deals and about to put in a CPC order so it's getting real finally!

I think it’s closer to $2k-$2100 considering recent sales.
This and it ain't easy to find mint hundos or $500...mint fivers demand a premium too.
Taking in account the international shipping & VAT/customs bribe...not a bad deal if you can buy them domestic.

Yea once you have them both and played with them for a bit you'll know which you prefer and which has the breakdown you need as well. Or you might just end up keeping them both!

Congrats!

Is it sacrilege to mix and match?
Different opinions out there about this. I personally do not like mixed condition where it makes stacking chips harder and where counting gets a bit messed up with 20 of one stack matching 21 of another stack.

Guess its mostly esthetical though, and my OCD rather than an actual practical problem. You just have to do some testing for yourself when you get them in hand. If you dont mind, it's not a problem!

it did no occur to me that stacking heights would be a thing!

Just realising how expensive it would be to convert hundos to fracs
Yeah, I got lucky and tracked some down early on as part of a trade for snappers and then pieced together another rack barrel by barrel for decent prices

$10 buyin for a 25/50c stake are extremely short, it will just be Jam pre-flop with no post-flop play at all

You can consider playing $1 as 10c and play 10/20c stake with buyin of $20 (100bb) with the secondary set
or 25c/25c with $25 buyin with the primary set with your group

Did the primary set get snagged already? I'd have gone with that. at your stakes you wouldn't need all the $1's and $5's, and definitely no $500's.

Is it sacrilege to mix and match?
I would say yes but that's only if you ignore my small super poker world set which uses different colours and characters mixed in the .25c and $1 because it's for fun and you'll never take me alive

I'm going to train these fish (myself included) to come up to a respectable buy in. I'll use the mint secondaries as bait/reward. I've already trained them to stop limping in (by showing some measure aggression preflop myself) so we need significantly less quarters than before. Teaching them they'll just lose their quarters if they limp in, in front of me. I'll get them to 50 bucks. I'm sure of it
