Optic Yellow. When dirty, they can be mistaken for a dull fluorescent green, which I guess is where the confusion comes from.

Penn tennis balls have always seemed to have a more greenish tint (to me) than other brands (Dunlop, Wilson, Gamma, etc.), but across the board, the intended color is Optic Yellow.

They literally switched from white/grey to yellow in the 70’s to make them more visible on television screens … given that decision, why would they make them the same color as the grass or painted concrete? :ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

I voted yellow. I hardly ever play tennis anymore but do play Pickleball just about everyday.
In South Philly, it was pimple ball and a broomstick back in the day.
 
We didn't have a pimple ball - we used a cork wrapped in electrical tape.
We used a roll of electric tape for a street hockey puck. :cool
