I just turned on 2FA. That is a good idea. I'm not sure why I didn't turn it on to begin with. I'm really glad I didn't get scammed as I just made two large purchases on this site in the past month or so. Those transactions were great btw.

Doing these 3 things will help tremendously.

  1. Use a strong password that you don't use on any other sites. Pa$$w0rd! is not a strong password.
  2. Enable 2FA using an app on your phone. (ie: Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, Google Authenticator) Don't forget to save the one-time use backup codes that are shown on your screen.
  3. Send PayPal Goods and Service only unless you text or call the person that you know is selling them.

If anyone ever sees me writing posts that are:

Endearing
Nice
Warm and/or cuddly
Actually helpful

Please contact the police, a mental health professional, or any of the mods here.

There’s a large chance I’ve been kidnapped, having a mental breakdown, or my account has been hacked.

Thank you

And the best way to get a strong password is to use a password manager! Thanks Tommy for all the work you put into this site and for what you're doing to keep it safe

Ok. Trying to setup 2fa. My passwort is so smart, it even outsmarted myself….
Now says temporarily blocked on the other device, but looks like here I am still logged in. What‘s the lock period, anyone knows by chance. Doing some lego, so have time to wait…

Just after reading the post the grammar made me sus straight away but i suppose when your rushing to dibs something its a little easier to miss i guess.

Goods and services seem the only safe way to do things these days like i had previously stated. Sad times

Looks like a minute or two
It's longer than that but since you were already logged in on another device it probably reset it. I'll have to inquire with the software devs to know for sure.

A few ideas, let me know if they are bs @Tommy
-Would it be an option to only allow complex password combinations? Say, You need 8 letters mixed lower and higher case, 4x Numbers and 3 "special signs" like !"§
-Would it be an option that users can personally limit the devices that can be logged in at one time? Default would be 1 so everyone is forced to change it if they use pcf on their phone and laptop.

This might sound silly to most but if you ever purchase a chip from me in the future, feel free to ask for pictures of me with the chips in any particular way.

I will hold the chip by my pinky toe and snap a pic if that’s what you’re into. All in the name of “security,” of course.

Don't be stupid.

Everyone knows the people with foot fetishes like to see the soles of your feet....

This is nothing built in the software that will do that. It's been brought up before on the software developer site a few years ago. The mentioned using a PW manager and their answer was adding 2FA.

2FA will only allow devices you verify and authorized. I'm not aware of any other way to limit being logged in on a set number not devices.

Using 2FA is really the way to go ATM.

Bitwarden is free and works across my PC and Android phone and syncs across all devices. Switched to it from LastPass when LastPass started being stupid, plus BW is open source where LP is not.

Bitwarden, and if you're savvy you can self host it.

Is it an Android thing only? iOS?

Having dealt with claims on all fronts, F&F, G&S, direct claim/dispute through credit card company, and the use of purchase protection, I can say without hesitation that the safest methods are 1) G&S and 2) Purchase Protection. In the rare event an item went missing or never showed up and I used F&F, the credit card company has honored the claim immediately with a message resembling “We’ve taken care of this one for you. You’ll see it credited within bla bla bla” only because it was a relatively small one ($20 up to $100ish). Anything beyond that and the card will do a temporary credit as opposed to permanent. They’ll try to get info from the other side and if no response, permanent. If there is a response from the scammer and he says “I sent it out, here’s tracking” then it’s practically game over. They don’t want to waste resources digging into the small details. They just get side A’s claim vs side B and if it checks out on the surface, too bad credit is reversed.

On the other hand when you go through G&S, you’re essentially paying for that added protection of an item going astray, not as described, and several others. You pay a small fee for peace of mind, assuming you don’t know that person.

Purchase Protection is a built in benefit that comes with several cards ranging anywhere between $500 up to $10,000 for Covered Items (damaged, vandalized, stolen, and sometimes lost) You have to dig and find the resource or PDF that tells you how much the coverage is on that card along with what’s covered.
