Dirty vs quick hand cleaned. The $1000 has a lot of what looks like blue color transfer that doesn't want to come off. Magic eraser would help, but mine is packed away in the back of a moving crate right now. The original $25, $500, and $1000 have gold flecks that show at the right angle under light I didn't notice on first look.

Thank you for this. Very helpful.

Thanks for the pics! I'm really bummed even more now that I missed out on the 5k chips. My strategy to grab a quick T10,000 set did not work out as well as I had hoped.

Rack-check marks, perhaps?
There's definitely obvious rack checks, but every chip has it across the whole face and edges. My best guess is the blue spot from shuffling. The $5k appears mostly unused, but the $1k looks to have been used a lot. They stand on edge no problem, but they aren't sharp, shuffle very easily.

Do the anniversary $25s lack the metallic flack in the one spot? It looks like it in your pic.

Any conclusion on the $1k colour? Still seems a little dark for blaze, but so hard to tell from photos.

Wasn’t it confirmed that it wasn’t blaze?

Correct, anniversary $25 no metallic fleck at all.

I can't get the $1k clean enough to say for sure. Initial inspection it looked blaze in the hat and cane. After scrubbing with limited tools it brightened up a lot but there's a lot of what looks to be blue and/or grey color transfer from the spots that I can't get off that keeps the chip darker looking. I don't have access to my other chips at the moment to compare to either. It just seems a lot brighter than orange, but not quite like the mint condition blaze orange I'm used to.

Are there other examples of 25 year old casino used blaze chips? I wonder if there's been some color fade?

Edit to add: I believe HSI was pumpkin, it's definitely not pumpkin

Last post before bed. After sorting through the $1s, I noticed 2 different inlays. Black denomination with glossy inlay, and red denomination with textured inlay. The textured inlays are filthy, but most clean up well. There were also some victims of cage violence, I attempted to clean one (top middle) but whatever the black stuff is, it does not want to come off without some extreme force. I was using a hard plastic scraper we usually use on cast iron pans and gave up.

oooo I was going to buy some 1's ewwww

Black stuff is hundo clay from rack check's....you can remove it with a magic eraser (those textured labels are tough as nails).
The red denom versions look to be the original chips from opening (1996) and the rest are reorders (en thus not leaded).

The $500 chips look better then expected...I got two racks to maybe get 1 good/VGC rack.
Thanks a lot for the pictures @natumes (you scored big with those 5K chips)

Will be interesting to see how this pans out if a lot of stock lingers (too early to tell but I was surprised at there not being more movement of stock over the weekend).

I believe one reason is no more $100 denomination left to purchase (which kinda surprise me as usually there will be a bigger stock of $100s left at the time)

If I making a Cash Set, I will want a barrel or 2 of $100s to be include in my $1/1 or $1/2 stake 500 chip set

this and the $1,$5 & $25 look heavily used might be driving people away also yes the $100 and up being gone puts a damper on things for sure

I got a set cause I only play $1/$1 Blinds or $1/$2 Blinds and our games are like 6-9 people and never have more then maybe $1,500-$2,500 on the table throughout the night so for me my cash sets are only ever like 200-300 $1s , 100-200 $5s, a Barrel or 2 of $25s and I will usually do 15 $100s and 5 $500s or a Barrel of each $100 & $500s

I bought a Ultrasonic like 2 months ago and still havent used it I think its gonna be time to break it out to clean these Majestic Stars though my hands and wrists and fingers hurt from cleaning some of my Jack Cinci's & some of my Horseshoe Clevelands

Little fun fact.

Gerard Chariler-

“Until 1998, these clay chips all contained approximately 47% (that is 470,000 Parts Per Million, or “PPM”) of lead in order to give them the weight that dealers and players were used to. Since 1998, the Paulson chip has had significant reductions in its lead content resulting in chips sold between January 1998 and November 2006 having a lead content of a few thousand PPM to a maximum of 6,500 PPM (0.65% in weight) for most of the approximately 70 colors of the available palette with the exception of 6 colors for which no acceptable formulation had been found until the second part of 2006.

Since November 2006, none of the chips manufactured have had lead levels that exceeded 6,500 PPM (0.65% in weight). Directly as a result of our continuous reformulation processes, we are pleased to report that all Paulson chips manufactured since October of this year(2007) have a lead content of less than 50 PPM (0.005% in weight).”

This info (and a lot more) was already discussed in previous threads.

1998 seems to be the cut-off for fully leaded chips...

PCA (1996), Grand Victoria (1996), Sheraton Tunica (1994), Majestic Club (1996, only red denoms) are all fully leaded RHC's (and there are more)
Mesquite Star opened in 1998 and while they have metal flakes...they are not leaded in the same way as the above (and their weight show that)

Mesquite or Majestic?
Majestic star opened in 1996 …. which bring us to.

The chips are absolutely filthy. I will be buying an ultrasonic (finally).
$1-$25 are 21 chips to a barrel in 66.7 racks
$1 are beat up and some filthy inlays, possibly water damaged inlays
$5 has multiple inlays, bacc room/chinese are the least worn, some look almost sharp with flea bites. I went through 2 racks (5 more to open) and got 120 white inlay, 26 pink/red inlay, 19 pink/blue inlay, 42 bacc/chinese inlay, and 3 grand opening (210 chips in 2 boxes)
$25 has 2 inlays, anniversary inlay slightly better condition
$100s are close to fitting 21
$500s are in good condition
$1000s are the most worn 43mm I've personally seen, but still in good condition, and I believe they are blaze orange under the grime
$5000 have sharp edges, just dirty on the edges, faces are mostly clean

Hey, do you mind taking a couple pics of the $1,$5, and $25s in barrels stacked next to each other? Just wanted to get an idea of how much they vary in thickness. I’m sure it’s all over the place. Thanks!

I’m a little surprised at condition of the 100s. Seemed from pics that it had same variation as the lower denoms where some recent issues were relatively not worn. If anyone gets nicer condition ones post pics.
