ShuffleTech recommends Copag. I'll have to revisit the results of those in the near future, but I suspect they would work very well.

Based on what I've seen thus far I'm guessing that thinner/lighter is better than thicker/heavier. Kem didn't not fare well with jamming 3 or 4 times in about an hour & a half before I pulled 'em out & replaced 'em with the known good Cartamundi.

Kem are .0130" thick, while everything else I've noted are .0120" or less.

Although, cards with an overly slick "glossy" type finish don't work very well either, regardless of thickness. Ace, Cartamundi Classic, & the USA-made version of Casino didn't fare too well at rate of jamming even though they are all .0120" & under.

I’ve only been using copags since I got mine a few weeks ago. It’s not jammed yet.

I am not sure if your theory on card thickness is accurate. I use Fournier cards in mine, and since you run the database you know those are not thin cards. I have never, not once, had a jam on Fournier 2818. Maybe it has more to do with finish than with thickness

Maybe, but if finish is the biggest factor that doesn't explain the issue with Kem (new decks, not warped)

Fournier may be right on the "borderline".... they're .0125"

Little shuffle tech update to revive this thread for 2021.

I saw shuffle tech having 5% off on their site right now but couldn't check out due to my location in Canada. As I know shipping will be a bit higher, any discount would be great imo.

I messaged them on Facebook and they got back to me pretty quickly saying they just updated their components in November so the new ST 1000 is even better and wants to send me an invoice. When I asked about the discount, they said "we currently don't have any specials going on".
That is not going to deter me from picking up an unit but I find this a tad dishonest.

At the prices you 're getting them in North America, I 'd pick up two, to have the second one as either a substitute or as a stand-alone unit in a trolley, to serve any second table, including outdoors.
 
Someone by the name of Chip from shuffle tech just responded and clarified. He said it's not that there are no specials currently as I was told before, but just no specials for international buyers as it would affect the cost of shipping.
The funny thing is I was already sent an invoice with the shuffler at full price and $119.90 for shipping before being responded regarding the 5% off promotion.
Anyhoo, I'm just gonna order one and hope for the best. Will follow up.

I wish you would’ve messaged me first. I have one gathering dust here in Toronto and if you read my nightmare shipping costs I would probably have shipped it to you for what I’ve spent on it.
 
I got one of these newer ones and so far so good! Still trying to find the right cabinet to mount it in, but I am starting to lean towards hacking an IKEA kitchen cabinet and adding some casters.

I intentionally went with that height so it would be high enough for everyone at the table to see it.

That insulation is the difference maker here. Don't put the insulation on the machine though. It needs air to cool itself. Just insulate the cabinet.

Hacking something like the Micke drawer may be a better option. Already comes with casters and looks much better IMHO.

Problem with kitchen cabinet are all the unfinished edges and sides.

Or better yet, get @alecnetwoodworks or @T_Chan to custom build something that's a centerpiece.

I just purchased the new shuffletech. Tested it and works great!
I was looking to get a new product from ikea. Pretty cheap and think it might work as a cabinet but it’s out of stock right now. As soon as they get them I’ll make a purchase hopefully. Then I can post the ikea-mod with the shuffletech.

I'm looking at this cabinet: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/sektion-wall-cabinet-white-haeggeby-white-s09378861/ but the Brimnes one above is my second choice. I feel like it wont be too hard to modify this cabinet as I would just need to drill new dowel holes after shortening the sides/back/door. My table is already pretty cramped, so I am worried that a cabinet the Brimnes size or taller will take away valuable space.
 
I mailed Rick back in February 2019 and asked if they had any new models coming. He replied saying
"We are working now on three new models that will be released between September 2018 and June 2019. I’ll get more information to you as it is available." so I checked back with him in October 2020 and January 2021 but never got a reply. I'm sure he has some issues getting chips as there's global shortage, but there seems to be some other issue(s) as well.
 
We used the Shuffletech last night to play for 4.5 hours. Overall very pleased. I had it on a small side drink table to my right and will definitely be enclosing it as it is fairly loud. We used two decks and so almost always had one in the shuffler while a hand was being played and it sped up play considerably. It did jam four or five times but I sorted it quickly. Three of the jams cleared automatically when I opened the cover. I was running multiple setups to see what worked best and it didn't like the faded spades. Compaq and Kem ran fine, so I guess the was to be expected based on prior posts. Hopefully it will continue to run well - if it does it will be a worthwhile investment in the quality of the game, especially if I can quiet it down. Appreciate everyone's feedback! Plus we got my HSI set in play and I ran really well which always helps!

That is the one thing I did to my cabinet. I mounted a power strip on the back of it and plug in the shuffler to that. Every once in a blue moon I get a jam so bad that you have to cycle power to reset the machine. That power strip lets me flip the switch on it instead of unplugging it

I finally mounted my shuffletech into the cabinet that I posted about here. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I couldn't source a router, so I was unable to recreate the cut out for the original Ikea hinges. I installed some budget hinges and a magnetic clasp to keep it shut. In a cabinet this slim (total width 12") it was a bit hard to get the flexible metal brackets to bend into a space that wouldn't interfere with the pre-drilled Ikea holes while also getting the shuffler to sit flush against the mount. So it ended up not quite square with the top, but that's ok. This 12"x15" cabinet is probably the smallest size you can reasonably use to get all the hardware installed. I'd like to add a little insulation, but being in the cabinet is already a huge improvement noise wise. I will probably add the shelves in to give the space a little more flexibility.

Turned out great! You mentioned the improvement noise-wise. How much of a noise reduction would you say putting it in the cabinet has been? If it’s significant, I’ll have to do something similar with mine - I’ve just been using mine on top of a side table, but the noise of it is pretty disturbing I find.
