You laugh, but you’ll probably get some pm’s on that deal

I'll be pretty sad to part with it.

So... somebody want to buy my 89-chip color sample set for $2,500 before I list it on eBay for $3,000? :ROFLMAO:

You think the price high now... Look back just 5-6 years ago and think of the prices of all the chips you sold/traded away back then vs. today.

I'm still kicking myself on the Vineyards, PNY, Crystal Park, sets I could have gotten "back in the day" when they were hella expensive at $1.5-2/chip.

Every dang day. Although I’m grateful for what I did get back then. But things seem to be doubling by the day now hahah

I’ll bid it up till I get worried I’ll win. Auction roulette. Love it !

So you run auctions up just to run them up?

And then when one sticks you come here to sell off your overpriced scraps?

Am I reading this right?

I was kidding... That Auction was so obviously rigged and fake its not even funny.... No one in their right mind.... Please Spare me your outrage...
And as for overpriced scraps.... No one said you had to buy anything from me ever.....

I am most interested by the discussion of whether this was a real bid and why anyone would pay such an insane price...
That one is rigged for sure!
My bet would be on shill or some kind of nefarious bidding.
Really? What makes you say that? Aren't prices crazy for lots of things right now? Like housing, stocks... other poker chips?
Hard to phantom the latest bid of $1525 — with
just about 3 hours to go in the eBay auction .
I don't know much about how eBay works, but I tend to think this was real. Looks like an unpopular opinion, but I'm not alone.
Did it get this high because a few of the colors were so rare?
Now that is the $1,525 question, isn't it?
Well whoever needs color samples that bad must have one helluva collection of chips.
Getting warmer. I'm forming an opinion that it is (A) someone newer to this hobby (B) with money to blow and (B) a pretty serious interest in having a color sample.
Is anyone really surprised at this?
No, not really.
I’m not selling mine. That’s all l know.
Wait, let me get this straight... you think prices are "borderline Luda" but they're not high enough to make you sell? Sounds more like market forces of supply and demand - - at least as perceived by one or two individuals in this moment.
No this makes zero sense. I honestly think something fishy is going on here for two people to be going this hard but I could be wrong.
If this weren't coming from such an eBay savvy member, I wouldn't give it a second thought. Tom, apart from the price, what makes you say this? Honestly wondering.
I do know I’ve wanted a complete color set for MANY years. Still don’t have it. Just don’t see them often enough.
Again, reinforcing the idea that a motivated and well-funded buyer, in THIS market, could pay a lot of money to snag one of these color samples. Time is money. I've overpaid plenty of times to fast forward and just finish something.

I have the privelege of owning a complete THC color sample. It's not for sale, not even at these prices. It's one of my prized chipping possessions. Given the time, energy and money I put into this hobby, it's pretty awesome to learn the colors and have the tools to match chips that pass through my fingers. Why wouldn't someone pay $1,525 to have that, if they are a willing to spend $2k on a rack of ESPT or other chips that aren't particularly rare?

Maybe these bidders don't know a complete THC color sample can be had on PCF for as little as $500. Or can they?

Personally I think the bids are real. I have had a few color sets that I collected over the years and never gave them much thought. But supply for these really seemed to have dried up, and more importantly, demand is way high right now, and part of the reason I gather is from people looking to match up chip colors when forming mixed sets. For them, match up colors is important.

Yea the price is high, but like you (and some others), it's hard to let them go even at those prices b/c the color samples have real utility. The real proof is that we know people have color sample sets. If the prices are really too high, then there would be a flood of them coming out for sale, but... they are not. Because there isn't enough supply / desire to sell, even at these high prices.

The result is that prices will continue to go up.

If you have a little help and color matching is your only goal, you can build your own from solids. If color matching is your sole goal, and cheaply also!~

Yep. Which reminds me. I actually started a poverty color sample set with roulettes from the chip room sales. Completely forgot about that thing

Shocked there is not five listings on eBay this week. Was hoping to snag one but then again: Borderline luda is not full on luda. This must of been a eclipse, glitch in the matrix, a hoax, or the new norm. Time may tell.

Shameless plug: I am Offering $5O+? for one light violent sample or one Rubine Red Paulson color sample. TY
