Kitchen remodel advice (1 Viewer)

For the Blanco sink and faucet, the wife and I are both still 100% satisfied.

I just double checked and I've had it since January 2017. So going on 4.5 years. No fading, no scratches.

While Home Depot had them in every color, they were asking crazy prices $750+tax. Another local place had them reasonably priced but only one color, not the right one.

We ended up buying through Plumbingonline.ca
$445+tax for sink.

They're in Ontario and ship everywhere. Shipped it to NB FREE. The shipping company dropped the box and broke the sink, the seller said send him a picture for his insurance and he shipped me a new one out the next day. This time with bomb proof packing. No hassle whatsoever.

Back then we shopped around and Lowes online had the best selection of in stock Blanco faucets. I think ours is called the Blanco Artona with pull down, which still works perfect. I was afraid with time the pull down would no longer go back in but not an issue.

Have fun remodeling!

This is our horrible old kitchen. We are blowing out this wall and moving the kitchen into the living room.

This will be the kitchen. This room was never too functional anyways.

Current status. The wall is gone between the old kitchen and old living room. Coincidently the sawhorses are roughly where the island is going.

It's going to be like this.

@p5woody We are going with LVP flooring as well.

We bookend the wraparound cabinets with full height floor to ceiling cabinets with rollout shelves. Made storage easy for panty items.
I like how you roll, but aren't you taking 'Food is Love' a little too far?
:D

If you got the Blanco sink where one side is smaller, the sister in law got that one and regrets it. Wishes she got the same size both sides.

And we put LeGrand outlets in the backsplash areas. Check their site. Customizable layouts, USB, smart app, under cabinet outlets and lighting options available...nice stuff.

In the end we just went with 4 double outlets that had a USB to plug in a phone or tablet. Much nicer than plain outlets for the backsplash area which is the most visible.

Are those 20a outlets? When I was redoing my kitchen, I found it tough to get a 20a USB receptacle (although I’ve seen them since).

My next sink will be one big trough, like an apron sink. It's frustrating not to be able to put a decent sized roasting pan flat on the bottom of the sink to clean.

"Making progress". That's an understatement lol. It already looks amazing and not even finished yet.
That will look awesome finished. Did you pick a backsplash yet?

I found that was hard to pick and especially hard to visualise. It really helped to have samples to put on the wall.

Picking back splash was one of the hardest decisions. We are using the below subway tile in a herringbone pattern with white grout.

Nice! I have to say, your "before" wasn't exactly terrible, but your "after" is great!

My cabinets are finally starting to break (30 years old), so I will also be embarking on a whole kitchen renovation as well. Going to spend lots of time thinking about design.

i'm still about 5-6 weeks out from demo. my biggest concern right now is living a month without a kitchen - how bad does it suck?

No kitchen from May 15 for me. Will be almost 3 months by the time we are done.

The dust sucks. We cover everything with painters drop sheets from the dollar store.

I bought an air fryer, which can handle most oven duties and two induction elements from Ikea.

Unfortunately it won't let me link from the US site.

Washing dishes in my basement laundry tub.

I was lucky, the whole process has only taken just over two weeks. The hardest part was doing dishes in the bathroom. We were able to use our stove after a couple of days and should have the plumbing done tomorrow. Demo started July 12th and we should be back to full use tomorrow 7/27 (15 days). We bought everything months ago, so no delays for parts.

I had a new table delivered yesterday but we are missing a couple of boxes. Had to reorder and it should be here August 1st. A couple of the cabinets have small damage on the doors so we are getting replacements for those next week. No major damage, everything is useable.

came out awesome! i really like what you did with the backsplash. also, i find amusing that you went from tile to wood (well, a wood look, i realize it's LVT) and we are going from wood to tile.

Sadness - my fridge and freezer of choice is backordered until next year sometime.

Happiness - I found two really good SS double sinks that can fit a cookie sheet flat on the bottom on the big side. One by Excalibur (apron style) and one by Franke.
