A company called Best Bet sold brass chips like these, originally stamped with a "WSOP" branding. They got sued. Later they started selling these, with the Tangiers branding. There's yet another variation with "Las Vegas Centennial" branding.

So while the chip is obviously a reference to the fictional casino from Casino, they are almost certainly not connected with the movie production in any way and are just unauthorized tributes.
Pretty cool looking, but not a lot of people would enjoy using them to play poker - they're very heavy. Although some people like heavy chips.
@fish72s you might want to reach out to @JLPicard , it looked like he might be interested in a Tangiers set if the price were right.
I've seen these threads and agree with most of the comments about stackability...etc.
And if one falls off the table it might crack a tile.
But in all honesty, when I was putting all my chips (TRKs, Paulsons, BCC, ASM and BJs....and more) into play in a few regular games, alot of plays said they liked these the best.
I think they are cool, but better as card protectors or souvenirs
