Taj Tributes - Updated (2 Viewers)

Talked to David today. There is no time frame when the Jockey mold will be in again. He said it is not used very often which is a real shame. When I first seen this mold years ago, it was not a favorite of mine. After seeing it in person and handling a stack of Jockey mold chips, it's now one of my favorites.

So it depends on this order size if it will be put back on the rotation schedule or not. I was not given a MOQ so I'll just take orders in a GB thread. Once I get some real numbers, I'll send it over to see if its worthy of getting that mold back on the schedule.

Interesting....

Based on other $5,000 chips from AC I would say it's gray.

These would look pretty sweet on a Sunfly or ceramic base, just saying...

great looking mock ups, begging someone to put these on the card mold
I created a design for cards mold that I am ordering myself but I am also making it available to others (with a charitable donation). I am adding a nickel frac (using the Taj $10 RHC chip pattern) and I am also going to add the $500, $1k, and now $5k for tournament sets as well. I have all of the chips below except for the hundo plus I have the cards mold color samples so I am hoping I did a good job on the color matching.

I like the pink but would like it on a $2.50 instead of .25. If this set gets made as a GB I’m definitely in. Loved the Taj in its hey day

I'd be in for a GB too. However, if there's no GB then I'd still probably place an order! I think this is one of the best cash chips line-ups out there - both simple and elegant.

I can make changes for people who want to use the design. And as I said, I am going to be doing the blue $10, the yellow $20, as well as the $500, $1k and $5k. It is easy to do denomination changes.

For the record I am not going to run a group buy but can accommodate the art for one (with charitable donation per previous terms). I am ordering a set for myself this week and can report back on the results when I have chips in hand.

I'd be in for a small set on the cards made if possible. Blue frac like in the OP.

The blue is great, but I'm thinking the logic behind using the pink for the quarter is that there's no snapper in these mock ups, and pink was the original color of the $2.50 chip that was in use at the Taj.

Love the blue addition. Am I The only one who thinks it should be the 25c?

These are all exact replicas of actual Taj chips (just with different shaped inlays in some instances and with changed denoms). If you were designing a set from scratch then I would go with the blue chip and a round inlay frac. I am a fan of these chips because I used to play with them at the Taj and have lots of fond memories. I had never seen the blue chip at the Taj so it’s rather meaningless to me personally (even though I own one now). But for me the pink chip is familiar and since this set is about nostalgia, it is hands down the frac for me.

Similarly, I love yellow chips and I love $20 chips. But the Taj $20 is meaningless to me while the green $25 is iconic and very familiar from my days at the Taj. It’s a no brainer for me to go with the green $25 in my cash set.

Regardless, it is very easy to change inlays and denoms etc for personal preferences. Someone had specifically asked me about a blue nickel.

The blue is great, but I'm thinking the logic behind using the pink for the quarter is that there's no snapper in these mock ups, and pink was the original color of the $2.50 chip that was in use at the Taj.

100%
