The mockups for science thread got me to sit down and actually try the Chip Design Tool for the first time. Really awesome tool, although I can totally see how it can be a black hole for time :)

Anyway, I had posted a set of Avengers themed chips in the previous thread on (of course) the "A" mold. While I doubt I'd ever actually buy them (not to mention the potential copyright issues), I decided to make a couple of alternative mockups just to fool around and practice using the tool a bit more.

I'm curious which version people prefer.

Color matched looks nice but will be very hard to get exactly correct when made and may look off as an end result.

I totally agree. In reality, if I were considering actually doing something like this, I would be very concerned about getting a perfect color match in order to pull off any of the last three designs.

#4, as a hotstamp.

I actually did think about how a hot-stamp might look, especially in light of the fact that CPC is getting back into it. Combined with the above concern, the idea of doing #4 as a hot-stamp would be pretty sweet.

On pure æsthetics, 3 2 1 4. One thing about #2 is that if a transparent inlay can be printed, you again avoid color-match issues. Hot stamping of 3 or 4 could work well for most of them, but getting a good color foil for the 25 could be tricky.

Way Cool! S.H.I.E.L.D. chips! Actually I think you need a circle in the hotstamp to make them right. The non hotstamp version seemed to work better.

That is the one....! Works better as a hotstamp. I would buy those, at least a small cash set. Need a quarter though.... .25, 1s, and 5s. Don't worry about IP issues. I'll get the Director's approval....

4 ROCKS!!

I actually like #4 the best as well, as other have pointed out, it would be better as a hot stamp (in part because it would need perfect color matching to really pull off the design). A hot stamp would make color matching moot, and I kind of like the negative space design itself.

Even though I was just messing around and wasn't serious about making these, I do agree that they'd make a pretty cool cash set. Hadn't thought too much about a quarter. Perhaps a set with a quarter could omit the $100 Thor chip and replace it with a $0.25 black (widow) solid quarter. Not that it's worth putting too much thought into it until you actually get the Director's approval ;)

If you make them as a hot stamp, and I would be able to take a loan. I'd be interested in a mini group buy with you, lol.

Looks awesome bentax!!!

I'm sure I have asked. Where in upstate NY?

Thanks!

I'm just outside Albany, so pretty much 2.5 hours due north of NYC and 4 hours east of Buffalo. I remember you mentioned you travel to Rochester occasionally, that's probably 3 hours west of my place.

3 or 1 for me.
I love the 3 but don't know if it will last... The 1 is a solid choice even if (or because) it is less audacious.

In for 500 as well. Waiting for a reply from Director Coulson.... Be a oool hotstamp. Black quarters and all the way up to Black Hundo....

5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, then 4, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5
