Does anybody here prefer China Clays to American Compression Clays? (1 Viewer)

1) You'd be right for the general population, and way wrong for most of the chippers here. and
2) You want me to buy poker chips that I need to wear a nose plugs to appreciate?
1) I really like the feel. most similar to Paulsons of any compressed "clay" since none of the others necessarily have much "clay" in them either.
2) I want you to assess by feel, and then buy poker chips wearing a noseplug, and hopefully by that point, I'd be long gone. :)

Do you prefer 1ply toilet paper or 2 ply toilet paper?

My daughter was complaining about having one ply in her bathroom. I laughed at her until I needed to use her bathroom! :(

Needless to say I won’t be torturing her with 1-ply ever again!

Oh and no to China Clay.

Lol!

Whatever happened to the OG runs of PGI China Clays? Why'd they stop producing those, I heard they were very close to Paulsons.
I have a set, they're nice for what they are, but not even close to Paulson. I might get flack for this too, but I'm so done with those color combos (ie Paulson pharaoh, progen etc)

You're not alone. That's really one of the main reasons I don't care for many of the Paulson home lines and their copycat knockoffs.

Personally, I think they feel great. If people were to be blindfolded, noseplugged, and asked to assess them by feel, I think the hate would fade from the results of the survey. Having said that, I don't own a set of CC's, but I have spent thousands of dollars (that I can't afford to have spent) on thousands of Paulsons (and a few TRK's and other "high pressure" chips - no vinyls).

My regular players thought I was crazy spending "all that money" on China Clays moving away from plastic slug chips. Then I got samples of china clays, ceramics, CPC, RHC, and THC chips. I asked them each separately which they felt were the better quality. They all unanimously chose the RHC/THC chips as the best "chips" but they all also said they would be happy playing with any of them.

@glanthaman. You seem like a fun guy to hang out with. Seem’s like you know your stuff when it comes to chipping.

Not over Paulsons. But I definitely prefer CC over TRKs. :ROFLMAO:

In all fairness, never played with CCs. But if anybody wants to send me a free rack of CCs, of Paulsons, and of TRKs....I'll send you back the ones I don't like (:

I’ll say this. After spending tons of money on China clays and ceramics (which are considerably better than CCs in every aspect) I finally spent the money to get CPCs. You really get what you pay for. For me it was so frustrating spending $500 for chips with different stack heights. Then sell those and roll into a different China Clay set that had certain colors that weren’t frigging round and looked like shit in racks.
then moved from China clays into ceramics at double the cost + shipping from SunFly. Worth every penny, IMO. So many upsides. Total Customization, uniformity, and long lasting. Like owning a top of line sedan.
then there’s Paulson and CPC. IMO I’ll always hold CPC in a higher regard than any Paulson chip for the simple fact they are hand made. Tediously assembled by a few people who don’t settle for anything less than damn-near perfect.
So, I don’t think you’ll find a chip enthusiast who really understands the process who would dare say they actually like China clays over “Merican” clay.

i think china clays are a step up from interlocks or dice chips. some are better than others & i wouldn't mind playing with the dunes or pharaohs offered by apache.

i would definitely prefer by a very wide margin "real" clay chips ~as CPC especially

Do nexgens count as China clay?
No --they are China plastic..

original Nexgen chips -- 12g injection-molded soft plastic with metal slug insert, three different mold designs (Las Vegas, Lucky Bee, River Poker Tour) all sold as blanks (although some aftermarket vendors resold them with various label designs)

NexgenPro chips -- 9g injection-molded hard plastic with no metal insert, P mold design sold either as blanks or labeled (Classics). There are dozens of alternate-mold NexgenPro clones, including Desert Palms, Dunes Commemorative, Pioneer Club, etc.

None are comparable to china clays, which are injection-molded plastic that contains silicate and chalk-type additives intended to produce a more clay-like feel. Early china clays had more additives (resulting in a less plastic-like feel, but sometimes suffering from long-term durability), while more recently-produced china clay chips contain less additives (resulting in a more durable chips with brighter colors, but much closer to the plastic end of the chip spectrum).
