Hi everyone

I'm a member of a JCI chapter in Belgium, and we are planning to hold a rather large event in October with a poker tournament for charity at its core.

Ignoring all the peripheral things like catering, afterparty, etc., I had some questions regarding the poker tournament structure and proceedings.

Number of players: 100 (if all tickets get sold)
Number of tables: 10 (+dedicated dealers)
Start: 2-6 PM (currently under debate)
End: 01.00 AM

Buy-in: 150 (standard ticket for the event) + 150 (for prize money)
Prize structure: The total prize pot would go to the charity of choice of the winning players. Right now we're looking at a top-3 prize structure, where number 1's charity would get 50% of the prize money, number 2's would get 30% and number 3's the remaining 20%.

I've been looking into different starting stacks, the required amount of chips and blind structures that would fit the timing as presented above. Of course we know this would be a rather fast paced event, so I've been looking at smaller starting stacks (T10?) and an agressive blind structure.

Any input and feedback here would be very welcome, as the calculator on this forum refuses to play nice with me :(

If any Belgian people on here have any ideas/suggestions/feedback on how to best go about organizing this kind of thing, I'm all ears :)

Disclaimer: Of course this event isn't planned anytime soon, considering the current health crisis. Current timeline is for October 2020, so don't worry, we're staying home for the duration of this pandemic :)

What do you plan to use for chips -- somebody's existing set, or do you plan on buying chips specifically for this event?

We're currently negotiating with a local casino, but I'm secretly hoping I get to design and order custom event chips...

Not aiming for Paulson quality, because of sheer volume and cost, but at least above dice quality.

Might consider giving the tournament chips away afterwards as part of the prizes. You'll have enough for ten single-table sets, or five two-table sets.

I'll post a breakdown needed later today.

Thanks a bunch man! We're currently considering all options, including giving them away as secondary prizes (most of them, since of course, I wouldn't be on this forum if I didn't keep at least some of them for my own collection :D )

Rebuys allowed within the first hour, after that you're out.

Haven't really budgeted for this right now.
