Mine Yup, he's at it again... Multiple eBay listings for Isle & Lady Luck (at break-even starting prices) (1 Viewer)

In fairness to me, my opinions have always been consistent:
Everything is overpriced
If you buy chips and don’t use them then sell them off for a profit, I find you to be suspect
You should only be buying chips you plan to use and love. Poker chips need love, not a cabinet.
Thanks everyone! :)
Agree.

I'm past the "kid in a candy shop" stage of chipping. I know my wants and go after them. I'm happy with my current sets :)

I am definitely still in the “kid in the candy store”. I buy first then figure out what do do with them. Every time I see a sale of nice chips......

Likewise with the BCC Grand Cardroom chips. I was in on that. Sold my chips to Gopher by my choice at cost then watched him sell them in an auction for 400% more. Again on me. I chose my price he paid it. I just don’t go for the regular gouging that has become the norm. But that’s how the hobby has changed. Again the amount of time between flips makes a difference to me.
 What in the actual what? I thought my ears were burning on Wednesday, but I figured it was just the jock itch flaring up.

Gah...I read that and I thought to myself that I'm an even bigger asshat than I thought I was. But then I remembered the actual facts, events and timeline. As they say, facts are a tricky thing:
  1. You listed the chips in a FS thread in 2013, at a fixed price that you chose.
  2. I PM'd and said "I don't think you should sell these, but if you are, I would like to buy them." Which you did, and I did. I literally tried to talk you out of it. :banghead:
  3. After almost three years, in 2016, and after literally dozens of PM'd offers to me from other members offering to buy the chips at many multiples of what I paid, I decided to sell them, and did so, via auction, at a fair starting price.
  4. They sold for far more than I thought they would, but I didn't set the price, the market did.
So...apparently this makes me a "gouger" and a flipper? Not sure how that makes me either, when multiple people came to me over the years and offered higher prices than I paid. In some cases many multiples of what I paid.

Speaking of which, you were one of those people. Two-and-a-half years after I bought them, you offered me...wait for it...$100 more than I paid you. :meh:

It seems to me that a lot of members of this forum confuse “gouging” with “market demand”...

Nobody is going to pay more than they're comfortable paying... we aren’t selling water in the desert for $100/ gallon... chips are a niche luxury item...

What few seem to realize is I try to sell my items in a Dutch auction format... imho, that’s a better way to get the max market price...

I think I'll be happier if I block you.

Welcome. You're now #2 on the blocked list.

The key to blocking someone, is to leave them blocked. Don't get curious if they've changed , or if the light have had something interesting to say in one of your threads. You'll almost always regret opening up one of their posts

Some, I have placed into a blocked "penalty box". Usually for less egregious offences. After a few months said thread dies off and I can unblock and never deal with the thread that annoyed me.

This makes the second person that I just flushed, which makes me wonder if Wedge, Gopher and I all have the same #1 blocked character. :cautious:

I've loosened my requirements on blocking people. I think im up to 12

There are 20 posts on this page. I'm only able to see 4 of them without clicking the special link at the bottom  :ROFLMAO: When I click it, it's like I'm living in the movie Inception with a massive nested loop of ignored members quoting ignored members quoting ignored members. Whoa! Total mindfuck.

I’m just going to assume you’re moving poker chips at inflated prices. Chips you bought not for yourself and your own use. So, loveless purchases. As noted, I also frown on those things so if that’s true I’m in the chorus of your detractors.

Buying chips you have no intention of using for yourself should be left to the vendors.

I dont even mind that practice. People often pick up racks at casinos for resale. Some (like @moose ) doesn't even upcharge which is awesome, but those that nab a few racks because they know they will move... well that's a convenience factor that is worth paying for.

However, swooping in on chiproom sales to grab highly sought-after chips... that's straight up dick move. It's like banging your buddy's girlfriend. There's no law against it, but when you find you no longer have any friends, don't act surprised.

Okay, I’m 100% with you on our forum members who farm at casinos. You guys rock.
