Hey coffee crew!
I’m back from the Indo adventure—still smelling faintly of curries, coffee, and ocean breezes. The trip was amazing, and now the best part: sharing the coffee!

The good news:
  • I was able to snag everyone’s requested regions. Mission accomplished there.
  • Prices are reasonable - roughly $12 avg for half-pound bags. I haven't checked totals yet though.
The quirky twist:
  • Everything in Indonesia is sold in half-pound bags. Literally everywhere. So, your coffee bounty is a little smaller than expected—but hey, more variety for the same budget isn’t the worst problem to have.
A side note from the trip:
I was blown away by how much Bali’s airport has grown since my last visit eleven years ago. Super modern, clean, and honestly a worthy stop in its own right. If you ever get the chance, it’s worth checking out.

A little coffee pep talk:
As you might expect from small roasters in small corners of the world, part of the fun is that it won’t taste like your usual morning cup. Some beans might surprise you, others you’ll love, and maybe a few will challenge your taste buds. But that’s the spirit of coffee snobbery—trying things you can’t just click-and-order online. Major kudos to all of you for being adventurous! None of these can be found online in the states, and they were roasted by good people in fine establishments :)

Here's some establishments I visited in the journey:
  • Twenty Milli Coffee and Roastery in Bali (GOOGLE LINK). This where the majority of your coffee orders are coming from as they sourced beans from all over Indo!
  • BB Coffee Roasters in Bali (in the process of closing and no longer selling beans, sadly) (GOOGLE LINK)
  • Carpenter Roastery in Labuan Bajo (GOOGLE LINK)

I’ll message each of you individually by the end of the week to get payment and shipping sorted. Thanks again for joining in on this little experiment—I hope these brews bring you a small slice of this fun journey.

I’m packaging up everyone’s coffee now. Everyone’s tracking details and package pics should arrive in dm very soon. If you don’t hear from me within next few hours, please do reach out.

Otherwise, coffee will be shipped out today, and be in route Monday.

Enjoy!!

Also just realized I started this thread in chips general by accident. My bad @Tommy if that’s an easy fix to switch this thread over to off-topic, great, but if not, no biggie.

I finally got around to sampling both coffees this week and I wanted to reach back out again and say thank you for taking us on this journey!

My order had both the Arabica Sumatra and the Anaerob Orange Bourbon.

I tried the Orange Boubon first and that sucker has a punch! It really has an appropriately named coffee and it smacks you in the face with the first sip. At first I didn't like it but each subsequent sip was better and better. The name shines through with each sip with strong earthy tones and the orange rind scent. It's almost like an old fashioned crafted into a morning cup of coffee. Overall, not my type of coffee but was a nice change from my normal.

Next I tried the Arabica Sumatra. Now we're talking! Slightly tart but with a crisp finish. Very tasty and I enjoyed this one a lot more. It has a nice citrus pop and leaves a slightly lemon rind finish in the mouth.

Thanks again, @inapinch !

At first I had to look up what ‘Ijen’ was — turns out it’s a damn volcano in Java! Coffee beans grown on the slopes of a volcano… how metal is that? 🌋☕ Super cool. Glad you’re digging into them, @toothpic — cheers!

That explains why the flavor punches you in the mouth lol

I haven't been able to try mine yet, what brewing method did you use for these?

Not sure how I missed this, but we had Kopi Luwak brewing in Alabama a couple weeks ago…maybe it was fake.View attachment 1562744
Holy shit! (Not literally) Haha

I don’t know much about it, but our taxi driver in Indonesia mentioned it was like $100 for couple ounces of beans. Pretty wild.

How did it taste, genuinely curious. I think my SIL tried a sip long time ago er something

It’s delicious…super smooth (low acidity?).

You can get it on Amazon…or at most Zoo gift shops

I still wonder what the thought process was for the first person to try kopi luwak...

Bali Kintamani – Fruity, floral, citrus notes.

In for a bag, if still available

They didn't want to waste good coffe beans. Maybe had a investation of those animals and said screw it, let's try roasting this shit?

Great to hear/see!

I’m finishing off my last brew now. Been fun trying these out.

I’ve been pretty shaken up lately over Berny’s passing. What a good dude. Great dude. Every group buy I’ve tried to do, it was because I saw him do something similar in years past.

Ah, Before I forget,Prob unnecessary but here’s the charge for our 20 bags of coffee - $254. Came out to be $12.70 each, and I rounded up ten cents. Meant to add this bit earlier in pm for transparency

I've been enjoying the Kintamani. At first, it reminded me ever so slightly of some Brazilian coffee I've had as it hinted at a nutty taste. But, yeah...the description is accurate...nice floral coffee with some citrus. Thanks @inapinch for the opportunity to try something new! I think I just talked myself into making another cup, and yes I know it's late...I don't care. :)

No decaf. No pods. No Folgers people. You know who you are.
Lol

I am not a coffee snob, but I am willing to become one. I'd typically buy a medium roast grind. I'd probably select the Java from your list, and a Sumatra for the espresso machine. But I'm open to try something new and would take suggestions from someone with more coffee knowledge than me. Except cat poop. That's a hard no.

If extra bags came home with you, LMK.
