I can see how that would work with some, but I also have sponsors at my events that add a prize overlay to the first place finish. That extra $ is a motivator. Again.....all in the detail and structure.

Quite simply, it opens the door to collusion among players to "team up" against another player. It also creates friction among the players if one or more players don't want to chop and would rather not have to be the one(s) to snuff out a chop request.

Ah. That makes sense. All my players are really close friends so they never get hard feelings. They also tend to target their closest friends instead of help them (or they target me and 2 other guys because we have the best results).

Hey @Jaxen you quoted my post so responding here.

Parking lot splits are non of my business. Fine...

But in a tournament league setting where 1-2 points can mean the difference between qualifying for a $7,000 Championship Freeroll or not.....I don't allow dealmaking. That could lead to collusion and gaming....and I don't want that nonsense.

Never had a complaint about it in my club and doubt I will. It is all in the design and structure. A club that is strictly cash, or has a smaller purse up for grabs is another story. Our Season's take 1.5-2 years to finish so it is a long term investment in time and effort.

Exactly. I never entertain chopping points. The Tournament Director doesn't even have a setting for it (that I'm aware of, there might be but I wouldn't look for it). Chopping chip leader always gets full 1st place points at the time of any chop, and does not get the Championship Freeroll chip bonus for outright winners.
But like I said I've got players who show up occasionally just for the cash grab and don't care about the points, or that they're helping fund a final they won't play in barring winning one outright (And then, there's still conditions).
