Wynn Casino Tourney Set & Shipping Issues - Need Your Help (1 Viewer)

This is also why I paid with my credit card through PayPal. I knew I'd be protected if he sent them to me Danny style. What the boundaries of that protection are, I don't know, but I'm going to find out.

Does PayPal typically try to arbitrate partial refunds? Seems like the most they would order is a full refund which has already been offered. If the sticking point is truly the shipping cost, I would be shocked if Danny wouldn't pay it to avoid PayPal hell.

Danny fucked this hard, but litigating through PayPal seems like the worst of all possible worlds for everyone involved.

$8000. EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS. I don't care how high volume of a seller you are, even Costco had better put some padding in with an EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLAR sale.

I really really appreciate this thread. I've had something similar happen to me before -- where I've spent several thousand dollars on a set, and have it arrive with absolutely no padding, and damaged chips. And I didn't really know how to handle it. While the situation was "made right", I still felt like the world should know...I wanted to create a thread like this one, so that other potential buyers could at least know what they were in for if making a deal with the seller. I appreciate your willingness to share you experience Travis.

It is beyond me why someone would show so little care in packaging chips. I think the fact that we're all here, shows some level of appreciation for this little hunks of clay. For a Holy Grail set, for the love of dog, protect those babies! I don't know about you, but EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS is a lot of money to me. The lack of care in packaging this set is extremely disrespectful to the chips, and to the buyer, IMO. Sure, offering a full refund would make it financially OK for RT. But it doesn't excuse the lack of care in packaging.

There simply is no satisfactory solution here. Rare and amazing chips were destroyed.

No PayPal does not. Not sure about the credit card company though.

Hey, Costco are expert shippers (and would never let that happen to Wynn chips)... btw, how awesome would it be if Costco got those in?

I recently bought 1000 chips from AfterTheFact, and you could have set a IED off next to the box and there would not have been a crack or chip. That was one of my bigger purchases, usually I put together sets a little at a time, so I was a bit nervous until the tank arrived with my chips.

In my mind, there is a point where shipping is not sufficient, and I am hopping on an airplane and/or rental car to the origination point. I believe $8k is about $3k over the point I am picking them up in person. I did not buy my wife's 5/10/15/20th anniversary jewelry and have it shipped, that went home with us from where we bought it. While it adds to the overall cost and convenience, sometimes it is better to get it yourself rather than trust the post/ups/fedex/pigeon.

Plus, you have a good story about getting the chips. "I got it in the mail", meh.

Lol. You're welcome to fly around the globe corralling rare chip sets. I'll stick with the pony express :)

So I can propose a solution here. Why dont you take pictures of the damaged chips @RainmanTrail post them here and take a poll on how much I should refund to you. I am open to a partial refund. And i think the community should decide the value of the refund.
Seems fair IMO. Question though, why not just package the chips better initially?

I agree @Payback I should have packaged the chips in two large flat rate boxes or 3 medium flat rate boxes. I hate that the shipment had damaged chips. But I think the fairest solution to the problem now at hand is how much should I compensate @RainmanTrail for his loss. I would like to see a detailed pictoral of the damaged chips and leave the nominal value to the community. I think that is fairest way to solve this. Or @RainmanTrail can send me back the entire set and I can refund his purchase in full and once received refund his return shipping.

Regardless of your initial mistake I'm glad to hear the lengths you're going to correct it.

Thank you for offering this solution. I will create a post detailing the extent of the damages tonight and update the thread to allow the community to vote.

I know others have said this 1000x but honestly I just don't understand ... if you are making an $8,000 sale, for God sake go out and buy $20 in packing materials and spend an hour or two packing it correctly.
