Anyone know why WSOP Main Event went to 50k starting stacks this year?
For almost every event you get 5X your buyin in chips
So I'm guessing players entering your $40 buy-in tournaments are issued T40 starting stacks?
If I pay $50 to play a tournament I still prefer 20 - 30k. I don't see a point in playing a tournament where final table is less than 40bb avgIf I'm paying $10K to enter a tourney I want some serious play - like blinds at 25/50 to start with a big stack (bigger than T10K).
I think that's the entire point. When chips on the table = cash value, subsequent play is a lot different from when the numbers are meaningless (in terms of dollars). The numbers are not meaningless in terms of play, however..... provided one can perform arithmetic. At some point the figures become meaningless.
Do you happen to know the breakdown of the starting stacks of the 50k ME ?I think that's the entire point. Man, I remembered seeing a picture of the WSOP ME starting stack somewhere -- and I just found it on Twitter: https://twitter.com/randomcrayon/status/752585959720357888Do you happen to know the breakdown of the starting stacks of the 50k ME ?
