WSOP 2021 Chips Screengrab (1 Viewer)

Surprising that there haven’t been more popping up through the back door when they close. Seems they take it pretty seriously. Even still - is there a resource where there’s info about casinos that are closing, rebranding or rumoured to be?

I don't specifically know the regs, but did go through the NGC website after I posted this and did find links to forms required as part of chip and token destruction:

https://gaming.nv.gov/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=2286

https://gaming.nv.gov/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=14868

Combined with the fact we know Paulson provides chip destruction services, we don't see even single cancelled chips available as souvenirs in a gift shop and Jim at the Chiproom can't get his hands on them for resale, it's safe to say that if it's not in the regs specifically, pretty much every casino in Vegas shreds their chips when removed from circulation.

My revised statement is, "The NGC probably recommends accommodates all chips be destroyed when removed from circulation."
Oh okay, so there’s a high likelihood that the material gets recycled! That’s good news!

There is a regulation that all cash value chips must be destroyed, but there’s nothing in that regulation that requires it for no cash value chips as well. No cash value tournament and roulette chips have made their way out of Nevada in a few cases recently, so it’s theoretically possible for someone to buy any discontinued WSOP tournament chips.

since they have new chips for this years world series maybe they could kindly give us the old ones  :whistling:

I don't believe there's any chips this year that are haven't been used in years past. However, I did see what appeared to be a T5 million chip BJ S2 series at the Millionaire Maker. Since they don't follow the same white edge spot theme that the others do, so I think they're actually from the set used back in 2005 - 2008 (then again for the smaller buy-in events). One other thing is that it's quite possible this will be the last time we see any WSOP chips with The Rio branding on them since this is evidently the last year it's happening at the Rio.

I feel like I’m in the minority here, but I honestly think the new house molds chips are god awful. Even the edge spot design is just somehow off to me. To each their own!

That one was used in 2019 in the big 50 and $400 colossus. It's part of the 2005 BJ series.

The limit tourney set that was replaced by those new chips from OP was amazing. I miss them. Spacemonkey back East had a game with BCCs with a similar base and edgespot color scheme and I always looked forward to playing with them (and I generally dislike tourneys).

Mixing "molds" is so tilting. :vomit:
They do this all the time with the BJ sets. You should have seen the Big 50. They actually used 2 different 5k and 25k chips from the different BJ sets because they didn't have enough of one type to cover the event.
