What is the lowest stake game you will play in? (1 Viewer)

Lowest I could go:

Cash: 25¢/50¢ minimum with at least a $60 buy-in for NL/PL and minimum of $2/$4 for Limit.
Tourney: $20 (net) minimum if the game is fun. I would not play any turbos though, no matter the entry.

I play .05/.10 w/guys I used to work with - it’s a grind - blind baseball, follow the queen etc. Just got back from a family reunion, played a $5 tourney w 1 rebuy - I was the bubble boy - was fun though.

I play on p*s for play money so I guess 0?

In the great poker game of life there will always be people with bigger and smaller bankrolls. I play for entertainment and enjoy small stakes often as much as larger stakes. I don't think play in general changes all that much due to stakes. Individual play changes a lot but that's true at every bump.

5c/10c ..... I have a great time hosting that type of game. Big winners leave with an extra $7 while losers go home $5 poorer for 4 hrs of fun and socializing

In my weekly .05/.10 game swings look more like +/- $40-180

In my "big" .05/.10 game, our big winner was +$700

My family has been playing 5c / 10c poker for over 30 years, I cut my teeth getting stacked by my gram gram.
The funny thing is that they have no clue that the chips we use cost 50 times the table value.
Nothing like the feeling of bluffing my wife's 94 year old gramma over a 30 cent pot.

Edit: Now that I think about it is probably closer to 50 years, this time thing is a little hazy for me.o_O

Lucky you, to live in the country which gave birth to this game.
That level of widespread popularity and profound integration of the game into society is enjoyed only by backgammon in my country:(

If there is cold beer, and the people love to laugh, there are no games that are too small for me. I host a $20 tourney with on rebuy per person with a $.25/$.50 cash game afterwards. Even at those stakes, there is only a portion of my list that stays for the cash game.

Other than when I just stated out, I struggle playing in a tourney for less than about $80. I lose attention and it feels like the other guys don't take it seriously and don't bring their best game.

Lowest Tourney for us is $20 + $5 Bounty. Otherwise $40, $40 + $10 Bounty, or MOST commonly $100 no bounty.

Cash is always $0.25/$0.50 or $0.50/$1.00. However, cash games are ONLY held when enough players who want to play cash bust out of the tourney.

That is just MY home games, rare as they are. However, good people, good beer, good times......I will play for Yak bones.

What do you consider a turbo?

Agghhh. the lowest....

I'd probably play a $5 buy in tourny....

Cash... .5/1

but I wouldn't be happy

I plY in a .25/.50 pot limit game that plays bigger than the 2/5 nl game in my local cardroom. It’s all about the players.

Lowest I will play is $0.10/$0.20 fixed limit crazy games (yes, fixed limit).

For a tourney, I'll play as low as $5.

It's really about whether I enjoy the game, though.

That's a good question, Craig.

To me, anything less than 12 mins per levels using a blind progression with average increase of more than 50% is considered a turbo. There's also different permutations of those two variables that would fall in the turbo category, for me. So 8 min levels with a 40% average blind increase, turbo, a 15 min level with a 100% increase, turbo. Online games are a bit more flexible since the number of hands per hour is higher than live poker.

In all of the above I am assuming at least a 100BB starting stack, but surely prefer more.

My league runs tourneys with 200BB starting stacks, 20 minute levels and a blind progression with a 40% average blind increase. And the only reason it is like that is because the games run on Wednesdays and we need to finish the tourney at a decent time, usually 6:30pm-12am, otherwise the structure would be even slower.

Free tavern tournaments.
Won second and first last night. Got $25 in free food and drink, plus a few hours of fun.

I grew up in the 1950s playing three cent limit stud and draw from a coffee can full of pennies, and I'd still find that fun.

I generally avoid tournaments with rebuys, though. If you need to gamble with do-overs, just stick to marriage.

Agree with all of this.

Sure wish you'd move to Atlanta, 'cuz I'm not moving back to Detroit. :)

Thank you for the reply! I’ll have to double check my structure to make sure it’s not only BG approved, but also not a turbo :D

In a home game this. I’ve been gravitating towards $2/$5 being my lowest in casino game but I will still sit at a $1/$2 table in a pinch.
Why? Do you find $2/$5 to be more profitable? I only play in a casino once a month (Pittsburgh) when I go to the corporate office, and find the $1/$3 tables to be juicy. Is $2/$5 the same, with more?

I wish... But just because of you guys and the rest of the crew. You both know how much I love Michigan...
Probably for the best. I’d swell up like a balloon with all the good food and whisky we would consume...

It has been for me. There are some better players but still some guys who get it in way too easy. Last month in Cherokee I had my balls crushed in tournaments for three days straight and then made it all back in one $2/$5 session at the end.
