I was wondering if there is a big enough market for a certain relabelled chip. Like if enough people want a rack of, let's say, "jack quarters" out of a sycuan rhc chip. Then maybe I can do all the work, murder/design/ apply sticker.

This is just an idea. Probably a bad one because I've never murdered a chip, designed a label, or basically any part of the process.

But I'll work off my strengths, I can harvest chips, and I'm dumb enough not to give up.

So please comment and let me know if there is a chip here that can fit into a generic set. So that it would appeal to enough people to make it cost effective/ worth while for both me and you. And what a relabelled chip would be worth to you.

Or more importantly, comment and tell me why this is a bad idea.

Thanks for any feedback.

Probably anything that was recently in a The Chip Room sale.

This is probably the best answer. I know that I'm on the hunt for fracs for the Majestic Star set and have already paid more for the fracs than the whole set of Majestic Stars combined. :)

I've got my eyes on those very same yellow chips for five cent chips!

It’s been done before. I remember a guy selling premade relabeled quarters for the Horseshoe Cleveland, after their Chiproom sale. I think the key is to strike when the iron is hot - as soon as the chiproom announced a sale, you have to get to work making fracs.

I would think that it's a bad idea if you intend to try to sell them since everyone has different needs and desires.

But with that said, for your own personal interest, it's a great idea! Murdering and designing is a long and arduous process but the results are fantastic and always pleases.

With that said, producing a frac it's probably going to be the most desired thing since they're the hardest to find. There are lots of chips from the most recent TCR sale, and you could always wait for the next TCR sale to see if there any better options.

As far as harvesting goes, you seem to know where to get some really cool chips. The boulder $2s are a great candidate.

That's a pretty good idea. I wonder if it's too late for Majestic star quarters

Honestly, if someone else did the leg work AND it was the right price, I'd be in the market. That said, I've already been tracking things down, so others probably have too.

What might work better is to have racks of chips ready to go that you know will be in demand as fracs ("do your own frac set").

But even if it isn't too late. I don't know if it would make much sense when all the other chips are going for like thirty cents a piece and I'll probably have to sell any murdered chip for at least two bucks.

yeah that is true... this one is probably not the best opportunity

If I lived near the Cache Creek casino, I would have easily re-labled chips. Anyone know a casino that does yellow or red chips as $1 or frac?

Cache creek did
Both places I think are either closed or no table games left

No good hawt yellow to harvest is the main issue in this space

I would be interested depending on result and price. Im pretty sure Im not the only one
id be happy to try it out. But i'm guessing for a cleaned/murdered/relabeld rack I would have to ask somewhere around $225. I'd order 1000 stickers so if I get 5 racks worth of interest I'd start the leg work.

I agree that it would be very intriguing to have the service of doing the work of customizing live casino chips that you can get racks of. Because there are alot of different needs, presenting possible options and putting it out there might be a good place to start, with potential fracs (red, pink, and yellow chips maybe) being a good start. You could present it as customize the fracs of your choice, a little like Potsie does with his his dealer buttons.

I wish you luck on the journey, it's a great idea and I think you'd be providing a valuable service to the community.

I remember circus circus $1’s be a fairly hot commodity a while back, but I have no idea what they would be relabeled to.

The venetian would make a great CDI 98 quarter.
Only if you don’t have any original white fracs. Paris 1s would be a great .25 for CDI98 chips for those that have the white, the light blue is light enough not to make a dirty stack with the 1s.

Unfortunately these 3 have all gone the way of the dinosaur. RIP to the Casino Real THC as of March 1st.

Yep, this was around 2003. Chip redemption for Cache Creek THCs was announced late 2002 and house mold chips were introduced the following summer.
