what are Empress and Empress Star ? (2 Viewers)

BTW does anyone know at what price were those bought? Just wondering what’s the current Paulson THC price.if I am not mistaken they were about $1.30 when they withdrew from the home market.

I recall it being mentioned somewhere in the collection of threads that they were around $1.30 per chip. The larger chips were more and the Bud Jones Pacific Star were more yet.

Thanks!

So they haven’t increased the prices for at least 4-5 years? Amazing. Such a shame they don’t sell anymore. At $1.30 people would buy them like hot cakes.

The current price of Paulson chips is whatever they are selling for on a given day. The market for chips fluctuates up and down (though the really top tier sets tend to hold a fairly steady value). Go through sold listings here and on eBay if you want to know what stuff has been selling for recently.

Sorry, let me rephrase. Does anyone know how much are Paulsons currently selling for?

Better?

See above, this isn't something that can just be given a black or white answer. Define "Paulsons", and then start going through completed listings

I think most people who have no horses in this race, understood perfectly well what my question was. It's clear that you choose to misinterpret and misunderstand the question because you have "Empress Start" chips for sale.

I did misunderstand, I honestly assumed you were a noob looking for some answers.

If you have a problem with my sale, you could always just come out and say that then instead of passive-aggressive posts in a thread

Whatever dude

FWIW my cost was not $1.30/chip, and it also wasn't $3200 for the set

I really don't care how much your chips cost or how much you are selling them for.

What I wanted to find out is how much GPI is selling them to Casinos. It was kind of a follow up question to my earlier question of how big the home market is.

The only reason I asked here was because I thought that would be the most reliable source for this particular info.

Again I have absolutely no horses in this race and no problem at all with how much people bought them for or they are selling them for. I was only interested in the GPI price for Paulson THC chips. In essence the "FOB price".

I think someone mentioned it in the "too late to submit my custom set into the HOF" or whatever thread but that's about 30+ pages now so good luck finding it :D

use the search function, it's been discussed ad nauseum over the last year

PS: I am sorry if my question was not clear or misunderstood. Maybe I had to be more clear and have said "Does anyone know how much GPI is currently selling Paulsons to casinos for?"

Anyway, I got my answer, sorry it caused some stir up. It was definitely not my intention.

Thanks!

This would not be true. GPI probably sold those to Trademark for 75c a chip or something, then Trademark marked them up for their profit. $1.30 cost to GPI to retail would be more like a $2 chip for the consumer.

There are many variables like artwork, shipping, edge spots, chip size, and volume pricing. However, paulson chips generally cost the casinos about $1/ea.

"Does anyone know how much GPI is currently selling Paulsons to casinos for?"
No, not definitively, because there is no definitive answer.

A dozen variables or so can change the "delivered end cost" of a specific casino chip, sometimes significantly. Those include, but are not restricted to: customer, sales office, chip mold, chip size, edgespot pattern, hotstamp and/or inlay options, art fees, security features, quantity, packing, shipping, discounts, and 'what else are you buying from us today'.

Ask three customers who bought Paulson chips from GPI in the past year and you'll get three different answers. They don't have a fixed-price catalogue; that's just not how they conduct business. You tell them what you want, and they give you an invoice when you place the order. Any questions regarding specific pricing beforehand are deflected.

Generally speaking, however, you can expect to pay somewhere between 90c and $1.75 per chip delivered, pending specifics (see above).

I understand. It’s like the CPC where the price depends on the final configuration. Even more so when it’s business to business, since they take into account volume and other factors.

I just wanted a rough, average, number that’s why I asked about the price of this specific set.

I'm not sure that's much help for you either. This specific set was part of an order that is purported to be in the ballpark of half a million dollars.

Actually that number, around 1 million chips, was exactly what I was l for

As BGinGA stated, there are a lot of variables in determining per chip prices. With total chip quantity, chip size (39mm vs 43mm), and colors/spots being notable factors.

For a "rough" ballpark, I'd say the following ranges are safe estimates:

$1.00-$1.25/chip for 39mm hotstamps (delivered)
$1.25-$1.75/chip for 39mm inlaid (delivered)
$1.65-$2.00/chip for 43mm inlaid (delivered)

It is my understanding that GPI instituted a small price increase in late 2017. There could have been more since then.

I'm a new chipper and after reading this thread I don't care about the past or the drama that may have been involved with these chips. My question is:

What do we have to do to get an order like this together again?!?!

Follow up question: is it even possible to pull off a group buy like that again? Which stars need to align? What kind of casino consulting firm needs to be created as a front? And by "front" I mean completely legitimate operating company that would have a legitimate reason to buy a large quantity of Paulson chips ;).

Is it possible? Yes... It kinda just happened again. Will anyone who knows the process will open it up, I doubt it...

It kinda just happened again

Just happened again? I swear....its my life's story. A day late and a dollar short....mumble, mumble, cursing, more mumbling under my breath.

I promise I'm an okay dude. What do I have to do to be invited to the grown up table the next time something like that goes down? Obviously need to work on my street cred, spend a whole lot more time on the forum, contribute in a meaningful way, share pictures, etc...

Mostly only inner circles of friends pull this stuff off and don't invite people they don't know as they don't want any word getting back to GPI. It also takes a massive amount of cash up front being wired off with no clue what will happen next. Talking 100s of thousands of dollars.

Hey, I'm not in either group who got any and been chipping for 10-11 years. They keep it quiet until it's already done... Eh. What can ya do...

And therein lies the basic drama that ensued after the first wave of GB/NAGB.
