I have seen this term used but after checking the glossary and spending a shameful amount of time searching the forum for a definition I decided on a post with the term in the title. I’m assuming I’m not the only one that’s wondered. Perhaps a term that you can only access upon reaching PCF illuminati class?

The term is usually used to reference the 'Star' chips.
Aurora Star
Empress Star
Pacific Star

Yes. And their significance is that they were the first known sets of Paulson (and bud jones) chips successfully ordered from GPI by chippers. Since those chips are only produced for casinos, it was a big deal.
No need to be mysterious

Whatever, Bill. I wasn't being 'mysterious', simply answering the mans question.

Drama. Boat chips always mean drama.

In a way, yes

you sacrifice either a soul or a kidney

My stack only consists of kidneys, so happy to sacrifice one of those.

I’ve been here a month, what do Tiger Palace chips mean and can I divert existing household drama with a purchase…?

I haven’t been around long enough to be certain that I have good taste, but I think these might be grail material for me!!

I know I was replying to you, but the mysterious comment was really directed to the community. It just seems like an important detail about the chips that a lot of us tend to keep quiet. But yeah, it’s more salt from me.

It was a group buy from Paulson. Paulson does NOT sell to the general public, so some members here managed to fool Paulson company into selling them tens of thousands of chips, pretending they were a shipping (cruise line) company.

This scheme was NOT available for all PCF members (who, at the time, were less than a fifth in comparison to today).
The members who fooled Paulson company then re-sold the chips to other members, in exponentially increasing prices, making huge profit.

The result has been that this is not a community anymore, but rather a market place.

It is also a term used to refer to chips from actual cruise lines though, not just the NAGB boat chips.

Daddy, tell me a tiger stowy pweeze

Any bitterness you can detect in this forum goes back to that.
Every family has their hidden dark secrets and every now and then your drunk uncle Bob at a picnic blurts out "well that's why Suzie got shipped off to go live on her grandparent's farm upstate" adding on another clue, another piece of the puzzle.

It was always a marketplace. Anyone who ever believed otherwise was in denial.

I have never sold any chips, there may have been some people that resold, but not as many as you seem to think, with your extensive knowledge, having joined two years after that groupbuy. And there have been numerous paulson buys after these, that were exclusively for profit, but they don't get the spiteful vengeance that this group buy gets.

Sure, I joined just right after the NAGB and, at the time, had been trying to understand the toxic atmosphere around here, plus the sky-rocketing prices.
Of course, not all NAGB beneficiaries sold chips for profit, which is like saying that not all Germans were Nazis back in the 30s and 40s.
Of course, given the know-how, new NAGBs occured ever-since, in much more cynical schemes.

And, other than the inevitably generic and dull labels, many of those chips are truly great.
Honest congrats to the designer. I just wish they (designers) were more civic-minded.
So, I paid an arm and a leg to get some of those chips and have them re-labelled to my liking.

Empress Star, the first, was in 2016. You joined in 2018, aurora Star was in 2017. You were exposed to the fall out as a new person to the forum. Pretty judgmental for such a new person, but I guess it's human nature to take a side. Not sure I would compare chip buyers to Nazis.

Not chip buyers; chip sellers :)

Ya, I still don't get all the bitterness surrounding those chips and that group buy (or any other NAGB for that matter). I was left out of it, with great intent I might add, and it didn't bother me one bit. People got chips through at Paulson. That was a huge accomplishment! Good on them.

The only Paulson buy that rubs me the wrong way is Ken's Tiger Palace chips. But that's only because he was exposed as the biggest hypocrite on the entire site. That clown trolled me for years, calling me a "flipper" (despite that not even being true) and would berate others for "flipping" chips as well. He was one of the most vocal anti-flipper personalities on the entire site. Back when I had ChipDonkeys up and running, he used to send me a TON of super long messages with all sorts of demands and requests of how he wanted ChipDonkeys to be run too. All sorts of crazy demands about how to control the classifieds market with rules against reselling for a profit and outright banning auctions, etc. Honestly, it was wild. That dude is a delusional psychopath as far as I'm concerned. Then he goes and gets chips made and flips them all for insane money LOL. He also tried to buy ChipDonkeys from me before I shut it down. I told him to pound sand. F*ing hypocrite.

Funny thing is I wouldn't have cared one bit if he just bought them and flipped them for a profit had he not been such a vocal flip-shamer for all these years.

Tigers are pretty chips though, so I tracked some down on the secondary market. But I refused to purchase anything from him directly.
