I usually collect a chip or two from the places that I’ve been and played before - have had these chips at work and shuffle them on a daily basis for probably 10years or so. Anyway, I noticed the 20 stack at work feels smaller than a new stack of chips at home. Last night I brought the shuffle stack home to clean and compared them with and new stacks of Paulson’s - low and behold they have enough wear on them to fit 21 old chips where 20 new ones would fit in a rack....just begs the question...do you think anyone has been ripped off at a casino with very well used chips...especially where larger denominations are concerned?

Yes, I do think a casino makes a mistake in the favor of the house by pushing 21 chips into a 20 chip barrel. Not so much the high value chips, which are rarely so worn, but lower value chips happen with some frequency.

However, the motivation is not so much from management but else where. I expect most often this is an error vs a theft. The accounting is going to be off and require an explanation. Maybe it is easier to handle a surplus vs a shortage in the bank, but I can not imagine the difference(s) do not require some review. Any banking error is a sign of failure to follow proper procedures that needs to be followed up.

The casino's interest is not well served by systemically stealing a few chips from every customer. Sure they make a little money, but when the story comes out and the state gaming commission gets involved, then there is a risk to the gaming license and thus a mortal risk to the business. The risk is much greater than the return.

From the customer's point of view the outcome is the same - you got shorted at the cage. The lesson to learn is count your own chips before turning them over. It isn't hard to insure a barrel is 20 chips.

Interesting point. At most I can realistically see would be someone getting shorted $25. That being only if the whole rack were frisbees. I can’t imagine $25’s get that worn where you can get 21 in a barrel. Possible sure, but unlikely IMO.

I’m sure the possibility of a player being shorted $1-$5 for a rack of super used casinos $1’s is something that’s more common.

That top $1 in the stack pic! Never thought I would see one of those on here. The only casino even remotely close to me.

ahh yes.. the Inn of the Moutain Gods. I'm from Odessa and now Lubbock, so many trips to Ruidoso for skiing/snowboarding and poker at the inn.

I can remember playing at the Bellagio and Mirage many years ago and the chips were so worn out - don't go to Vegas as much as I use to now a days

You're in LBK? First chipper I've found near me. If you're ever in the Clovis area

Yes sir,

You should come for a home game one of these days if you can make it
Appreciate the invite. I'll shoot you a message sometime. You don't happen to have any more of those awesome tables do you? (I think I remember seeing you had a large set up with 4 or 5?) I'm looking for another table to get me through until I build one.

Sounds good - shoot me your cell some time and I’ll add you to the list I send out when I’m playing...

Had the large setup in Odessa 10yrs ago - game got too big and threatened the f day to day IT business..had people sitting in the parking lot befor close of business to get a seat in the cash game lol...anyway sold most of my stuff and moved to Lubbock at the time poker almost got me a divorce. Anyway finally got divorced anyway but kept two table one 9ft raised rail table with foot rail pedestal and a 8k’ tournament table with folding legs. Then by chance I called a guy in Odessa that I sold my favorite table and base to and he was ready to get rid of it so I bought it back fairly cheap and now have three tables but don’t really want to sell anything at this point
The pic is my 9’ table with the fancy base setup out in my shop where we play

Very nice set up. Glad to see you are in the Gasser chair crew too. Love mine.

I'm sure there were plenty of people down to play big in Odessa. If you change your mind on a table let me know lol. I'm just tired of a race tracked table and really want to add another table to the cash game

The larger casinos likely remove their chips earlier if they see excessive wear on them (note: nothing to do with cleanliness). Used roulette chips bought in public quite often fit 21 to a barrel in a standard Paulson rack. Maybe even 22 in a bulk Da Vinci or Brybelly one.

Couple tablew came from a guy in LA that made them for all the cali casinosbut has since retired - the other couple tables came from Rye Park Gaming which used the same methods to build. I used to have 4 tables and 40 chairs. My chairs are actually Classico chairs very similar to Gassers but similar. Apparently Classico is no longer in business so I'm SOL on getting new ones. I did find some exactly like mine online but different color and not sure I could tackle getting the recovered or not.

My tables use a dfferent design than most of the home built tables. the rail goes over the outside the table itself. easy to lift off to clean or change the playing surface. The raise rail has LED lights I installed that's pretty sweet

Here is is with the rail off Jeep

Very nice. I dig that table a lot. Makes me itch to get a new one ASAP. I have a lot of gassers, but just need more tables now. Unique lighting really sets off your room too. Nicely done.
