I have a huge set of the similar Las Vegas Pro 9g version, which has a smaller recess/label and 8ds18 spots. Same artwork. Was my first non-slugged set.

I think so. The recess/label is smaller, and therefore they weigh a bit more, and have more contact area between chips, resulting in more surface friction (less slippery).
