Hey-o!

Taking a trip to Tahoe with a group of guys, and wonder if PCF has suggestions on the best card rooms, best craps tables, and the best or most alluring CHIPS in the area. Would appreciate any thoughts from those who have recently experienced any of the rooms there.

Also, we're flying into Reno and we might have time for one can't-miss attraction there.

Also open to other suggestions for things to do in the area.

Thanks!

I was just in Tahoe last week! All the craps tables were $25 min bet.. but at Harrah’s they had one of those tables where you roll real dice but do all the betting on a screen and the min bet was $10. You can find bubble craps at all the casinos. The golden nugget was nice and quiet and the drinks lady came by often. If you have time, check out Virginia City between Tahoe and Reno. It’s an old mining town, mostly saloons and antique shops. I found a few antique poker chips there.

This is great info. Thanks as well for the suggestion to visit Virginia City - it looks really cool. We will need a break from the tables at some point, hah!

I guess the $15 min bet difference pays the dealers operating the betting... maybe there would be lower min bets during the day? Still sounds like fun.

Did you hit the lake or trails for any water/outdoor activities?

Daytime table rates were high too. Part of the problem was we were there during the celebrity golf tournament. So everything was expensive.

We hit the lake everyday! The place we stay at is between the lake and the casinos, but the beach there is private. I recommend Pope Beach, for $12 all day parking, nice beach, etc. or if you want something a little different, I would recommend going to Fallen Leaf Lake. There’s some hiking and the lake is a gem. Crystal clear water and way less crowded. We make it a point to to visit fallen leaf lake everytime we go to Tahoe.

Who doesn’t love Carson City?

The casinos in Carson City and Minden will likely have lower table games minimums. The Carson Valley Inn in Minden has a small poker room. I play there from time to time.

Atlantis and peppermill in Reno have good poker rooms. Not sure how the room at Harvey’s / Caesars Republic is these days, but they used to have a few no limit holdem games.

Best chips in South Lake Tahoe are at Golden Nugget, worst are at Bally’s. Harrah’s has a mix of Bud jones and Paulson on the tables. Kind of an odd mix.

Get a car, and see the area.

I live in Tahoe.

Harvey’s has a cardroom

I wish people would play on my garage lol
