Used Paulsons a worthwhile investment? (1 Viewer)

I think a lot of people are misreading OP's use of the term "investment." I don't think he's asking, "Will these chips appreciate in value and make me money over time?" I think he's asking, "Are used chips of significantly worse quality than new chips, and would I get something worth my money if I just went for used instead of waiting for whatever new stuff might come along?"

thanks for breakdown and info. I guess i should of used a different word than "invest". I'm looking for a nice chip with good feel and that would last for years to come. I do not host any games currently but play once a month or so at friends places (losing money of course but learning the game as i go). i would like to host a game in future but don't have a set currently. One of my friends loves Paulson chips and has a nice set and another has a set of tina which he thinks are great. If i understand correctly it will depend on my budget and amount of play they will see to determine what chips i should go with?
If you know both Paulson and Tina chips already, that's great. Nothing beats personal experience. Other members already wrote it, but one cannot repeat good advice often enough: You have to handle the chips to find out whether you like them or not - get samples.

You don't need to be concerned with how long good chips will last: While Tina chips are not around for a couple years only, it would have been reported here, if there are any real concerns. And Paulson and CPC chips have proven themselves for decades to be reliable chips. There are worn and battered chips out there, but these have seen years of daily use in a casino. What is good for years of use in a casino should last a lifetime in home games.

If were are talking about reselling value, I'd suggest you invest in something else. Even if prices go up on those chips, you need to ask yourself how easy would it be to liquidate that.

If you are talking about buying and using it as a one time thing, I think they are worth the money if you enjoy playing poker for home games. Just make sure you set your budge limit and don't go in a rabbit hole of buying more and more chips.

Costco is selling Gold and Silver Bars... Could make a great limit set.
