somebody on another forum recommended the used 2009 WSOP cards on eBay ($8.99 shipped) as being a great deal on KEMS. I’ve seen them referred to as KEMs before, but I wonder why. They’re clearly bicycle branded USPC cards, but I’m guessing they’re made with acetate, so people are comfortable calling them KEMS?
Anyway, on to the review. They’re warped and they feel stiffer than other KEMs. So I guess the warping (or bowing) is a check in the KEM column, and why did I expect anything more from 10 year old cards? I dunno. And if the picture doesn’t illustrate the bow well enough, let me tell you, they have that telltale snap when I shuffle them. That makes them next to useless in my mind. Because every time I feel that snap, I get angry at myself for wasting my money.
And like I said, they feel stiffer. Maybe that’s a product of the warp, or maybe it’s bevause they’re bridge and the only KENs I have to compare are poker size, or maybe it’s all in my imagination. I dunno.
But the bottom line is that these things are pre-warped, so they’re not worth the discount.

Well, I have the 2008 edition, they are the real Kem's (last year I think).

The are also a bit warped, but got a good deal on them...so ok to use in all situations.
If it would make you feel better...I bought a dozen, so will send you a setup (gratis) on my next shipment to US...then you can check these out.
If they suck, then you at least got two bad setups for the money :)

I always assumed using Bicycle branded Kems was a way to gain even more brand recognition.

Such as, “oh the WSOP uses Bicycle cards, ergo they must be a good brand. I want some.”

You got those quickly! Bummer that you don't like them much! FWIW, I think they are referred to as KEM because they are acetate like you said. Maybe you just don't prefer acetate? KEMs are definitely thicker and less slippery than most of the PVC cards that I've played with.

I found the warp to be pretty minor, especially compared to the 2008 WSOP setups I have, but even those 2008s I really like, despite the much more pronounced warp. I don't find the 2009 cards to be any thicker than the 2008s or the pre USPC KEM I have. Then again, I don't think I've ever held a KEM deck that didn't have some warpage, so that's my comparison point.

Interestingly, yours seem to be warped more along the centerline of the long edge, where mine are more warped along the centerline of the short edges.

Hi,
I have revently opened a box (sealed) of WSOP 2008 cards.
Inside, there is a sealed setup, 2 information KEM cards and a certificate of authenticity but it refers to the 2009 cards and the information cards refer to 2008.
Really strange ...
