Hello All,

I am hoping to get a Key West cash set soon, for .5/.10 or .25/.25 games.

I really like the look of the $2 chip. Is there any logical use for it in a cash set? If not when are they typically used? I know it is an unnecessary denomination between $1 and $5.

Should I just forget convention and get the chips because I like them and would rather look at light blue $2s than red $5s, or will the small jump be annoying?

I’ve only hosted a handful of cash games.

Thanks!

For a 25¢/25¢ game, an argument could be made for using a $2 chip as the next denom up (instead of a $1). You’d just probably need more quarters than if using $1s instead.

A better argument if it's a 0.50/1 game where the fracs are 0.50 (or a 0.10/0.20 game with both 0.10 and 0.50 fracs).

Yeah. But still doable if he really prefers the $2 chip.

Or if it was .25/.50, also reasonable. Unconventional, but not outlandish imho.

Thanks for all the great advice! Yeah I thought of a cool .10/.50/2 set then realized Keywest has no .10 or .50.

Might end up just getting myself a shuffle stack of $2s…but a rack would be cooler.

Why $2 chips you ask? Huge 8/16 limit chip stacks and $40 specialty chips! Nuff said

No use, just liked the color.. :D

But want to put them into play, since we play extremely low stakes and wanted to have some more colors on the table

PS: and no way I build a limit set on these unless I win the lottery. And I don't play the lottery.. ;)

in €urope a 2€/$ denom can actually be very usefull

True that. It seems hard to get anyone into 25c/25c blinds or so. Losing 1€ or more is a big deal here already. Can't go higher than that ^^

But yea, in Germany we don't have the income after taxes like you guys in the US :(

I doubt that. My poker buddies are nearly all in an academic professions, or in higher positions in their company. Money is not the problem, but we don´t get over 25c/25c either and hardly play cash game. Seems to be a big deal to potentially loose money. Investing 20€ for Tournament and rebuy on the other hand is no problem

There are $2, $3, $4... chips, do I have to play the fixed limit game to get them?
I'm interested in chips with unusual denominations.

Good morning,

First and foremost, MORE CHIPS IS MORE BETTER!! If you are following conventional wisdom, then....

....oh hell, who am I kidding, there is nothing conventional about poker chip collecting. Paying hundreds or thousands of dollars for fractional chips?? That's insanity!! But that's how we roll at PCF!!

I have sets that make zero sense, and I love the hell out of them!! Aces Casinos with .50, $1, $2, $3, $25, and $100s???? An Avalon Club set with black $1s, pink $2s, green $3s yellow $5s, blue $20, and an array of NCV colors.

Do my peeps complain? Yes, 1 or 2 piss and moan for a couple of minutes. My response is simple...

...Maybe poker's just not your game Ike. If you don't know that $2 + $3 is $5, then maybe we should have a spelling contest instead.

You do you!! Good luck!!

Same here -- can't resist the beauty of a bunch of racks of Aces $2s and $3s!

The peach fracs are just awesome every time I look at them. Too bad I don't use fracs.

Yes!! It's so hard to capture it on pictures though. Especially uploading them here don't do them justice.

In daylight these peach fracs are awesome!!

But yea, not too much use for them, but still want to keep them for sure :)

No sense in 2x denominations.

Best thing you can do with a $2 chip is remove the inlay, replace it with a $1 inlay, and just put them all in play together.

No one should be bothered by this.

No one.
