It appears our "power board" went out on our T.V while I was in Florida. I'm thinking of running out and picking up another T.V. real quick (Sam's Club most likely).

No research yet. If I don't make any sense. Its because I've been up for 30 straight hours. Probably 10 hours sleep in the last three days (great fucking meet up).

TV needs to be in the 500 price range

Looking at these

thoughts? suggestions?

If possible, wait until later this week. People notoriously buy nice tvs for the super bowl and then return them after the game. You may be able to get some great open box deals.

Of course doesn't help you if you need a tv today to watch the game

If it was me I would go with the
UN48J5200AFXZA
higher reviews and additional features such as the Eco Sensor. Good feature if the light in the room is forever changing

I presume your TV isn't under warranty any longer. Instead of getting a new one, have you considered repairing it yourself?

If you try this, remember to ground yourself. I'm hoping to see you in Madison and Chicago soon.

tv that broke is a Vizio

Power board went bad on my 50" vizio a couple years ago. A dude here in town fixed it for $100, it still works great.

We replaced the power board. It didn't fix it. I called around to a few places. It was looking to be a 200-250 fix. I said screw it. Ordered another T.V.

We went with this unit. After looking around it was cheapest (by 50 bucks) at Samsclub. They deliver to my door for free.

Thanks,

B

Thanks for the PM's and advice on how to handle replacing the Power Board. Much appreciated.

I was too chicken to replace the power board myself in mine, so it was worth the $100 to me. Also my Vizio was literally 6 days past it's 1 year warranty when it shit the bed. I remember the guy on the Vizio help line saying "Yeah you are probably never going to want to buy a Vizio again but....". Then I remember my wife saying if you would have bought it at Costco instead of Walmart like I told you it would have a 2 year warranty. Oh well everything is disposable these days.

Sam's club gives us a one year warranty. I bought three additional years for 40 bucks. Since its a 48 incher they will come to the house to fix it within 24 hours of any problems.
