Up for sale are assorted TRK’s from California card rooms.

First up are Gold Nugget Club $5 - 274 273

I’m not gonna lie, these are bike tires. The hot stamps are worn and faded, the edges are round, add they fit about 21 to a barrel. That being said, they look good for their age, and the stamps are still legible on all chips.

Asking $500 $300 $275 $200 $150 for the lot.

Next is a lot of solid green El Toreador $5 - 14

These are in much better condition than the Gold Nuggets. The hot stamps are in very good condition on both sides, and the edges are sharp.

Asking $35 for the lot.

SOLD!

Historical context bump!

The Gold Nugget Club $5's date back to the late 1970's in Sacramento, CA.

From the ChipGuide:

"Originally owned by Joe Zarola, who also owned the "Ports Inn", a night club that was previously at this address. In the mid-1970s, Raymond (Ray) Henderson took over control of the club. Around 1979, is was bought by Richard and Mary Laurence. Located in Kearny Mesa, which is a neighborhood in the City of San Diego.

It is possible that some of the chips used at the "Gold Nugget Club" in Sacramento, CA, were used in the San Diego club after the Sacramento club closed in 1980 (see chip note below)."

Historical context bump!

From the ChipGuide:

The Lucky Spot Card Room was "owned by Floyd R. Andeel for 30 years. During the late 1950s, it was sometimes called "Radio's Card Room."

ChipGuide doesn't even show the red TRK's, even though the hot stamp is identical.
