I have been hosting a monthly game for about 8 months. Typically alternating between a cash game (0.25/0.50) and a 2 table tournament.

One of the regular cash game players is color blind, and cannot see the difference between red and green. The starting levels of the tournament were tough for him since I run a T5 game. The cash game was much easier. $50 buy-in so we had pink, blue, and red on the table. However, we recently opened the buy-in max up to $100 and will likely end up with $1,200-$1,500 on the table by the end of the night.

Would it be silly to get $25 (or $20) plaques, so we don't put greens on the table for my one color blind friend? We play with the Nevada Jack Skulls, and I could order some custom plaques for $5 each.

There's not a problem playing with all reds, I have 3+ racks and 3 racks of greens. Really the question is, how much "fun" is it to play with plaques, because it seems like I'm trying to find an excuse to buy them...

Plaques are the way to go. They can be spendy. We went with cheaper dice plaques and are going to experiment with hot-stamping.

The cool thing is that they play in all my cash sets so maybe we’ll consider upgrading someday. Doubtful though because plaques are plaques.

We use $5’s and $25’s and have some $100’s

If you're looking for an excuse to get some plaques DO IT!!

My colorblind friends have thanked me for having chip sets with different types of edgespots. Most of my sets they don't have any issues with but there's one in particular that they do. Wouldn't you know it's the one with the same edgespot pattern...

I am colour blind so I always build my sets to be colourblind friendly

While some red and green are hard to see when mixed together, not all red and green does the same thing

Example, darker red will be fine when mixed with a lighter green.

Also there are other colours combination that will have issue too like for example certain blue and purple

Plaques are cool. And a few sprinkled on the table at some of the later rebuys will cause excitement.

Another alternative would be to get a Cali colored set, you know… if you’re looking for an excuse for more chips. No red, no green. Easy  :ROFLMAO:

Do you have a recommendation for a CA set?

Thanks for all the feedback here! It took me a whole 36 hours to decide to order some. I'll post pictures when they arrive, but likely will be a few weeks to a month. Having $25 printed on the NJ $25,000 plaques. Likely won't need any $100s any time soon, but may have to place an order of my game scales up in the future.

Plaques are good, especially for tournaments where you know they'll get in play. For cash at your highest denom, not necessarily so much.
I’ve noticed a problem with a few of my players and the CDI $100 and CDI $500…you?

If you play PLO I highly recommend

I’d be remiss if I didn’t include a link back to my own semi-custom Cali Set courtesy of Justin. I really like the @justincarothers / Broken Arrow label chips and he always has a group buy going with a few different sets to choose from.

The group buy has recently piqued my interest, and funny enough, the sunset beach chips on sun molds were what I liked best. Of the pics Justin has up this month, they stood out to me the most.

How much "semi-custom" went in to your set?

I'm thinking about ordering a T100 tournament set, with a mix of some of the colors and edges from these pics.

I love the pink $500, and would likely go with the following.

T100 - White $100
T500 - Pink $500
T1000 - Yellow 1000
T5000 - Blue $1
T25000 - Orange 25000

The edge spots on T1000 and T25000 would be the same, but they likely would never be on the table at the same time.

I'm probably in the minority, but, I hate plaques. Hate the shape, space they take up, most of the ones I've played with don't stack well. Hate them!

Looking forward to one day playing in a game with plaques or getting my own for my home game. Agree they look cool and are fun - but would only want a few and keep the chips central to gameplay.

Yeah, they look super fun. I got mine 3 months ago and haven't had a game big enough to put my $25 plaques on the table yet. Hosting a T25 tournament next week, then likely a bigger cash game to put them to use.

I am also thinking about getting plaques, probably a few $100 for home 1/2. I am not sure how many would be a good number to have if 400 $5s and 100 $25s is where we are at for chips.
