so far, all I know is that the design on the normal tina ceramic chip is fully printed onto the chip, but for tina hybrid, there is an inlay. But is that it?

Hybrids have a recessed center that contains a label (as opposed to an inlay which is a feature of a compressed clay chip, where the inlay is actually embedded into the clay before hardening). I guess they call it a hybrid because it’s not a full ceramic chip, and it’s kinda “halfway” between that and a chip with an inlay.

There are other chips that have inlays instead of labels, like plastic chips. But since Tina became synonymous with a full flat faced ceramic chip, people started using “Tina hybrid” to distinguish that type.

The real difference is that the hybrids have a recess (like an indent, molded into the ceramic material) where the label sits, further mimicking a traditional clay chip. This is probably why they feel and sound more like a clay chip.
And remember, it’s not an inlay. It’s only an inlay if it’s pressed INTO the clay. Ceramic hybrids have labels which are stuck on top of the ceramic material.

Card mold left, hybrid right.

I would add in addition to the label difference, there is more of a mold on the outer ring (like the web one above vs cards), so tactile wise more texture on the hybrid.
