Tiger Palace sound different? (1 Viewer)

Good morning - I'm hoping to tap into the wealth of knowledge here on PCF. I just picked up some TP 25K chips. They're lovely and I have no complaints. I am curious, however, that they sound different from the only other 43mm Paulsons that I have - Hollywood Casino 1K chips. The TPs sound more dull when shuffled and the Hollywoods sound brighter (for want of better descriptions.) They feel the same to me and they weigh very close to the same - it's just to sound.

Has anyone noticed the same thing? Am I going mad?

Once again - totally happy with the chips, just wondering if there is a known difference.

I dont think those are leaded. IMO lead usually has that heavier dull sound compared to a brighter clack. I'd assume bother the hollywood should sound similar. That said, probably just differences within the colors. Which 25k chip? Metallic silver by chance?

If we're talking about the Baton rouge Hollywoods sold by chiproom, those were probably manufactured in 2006 or 2007? I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Paulson clay formula has changed in 15 years, whether or not it's a lead issue. Inlays too. And like you mentioned, color. Lots of variables can affect sound. I haven't handled TPs, but I have played with some other NAGB 43mms and I've found them to have a fairly flat sound, at least compared to my 43mm leaded Dunes (but housemold, so different.) And fwiw, I still find the flat sounding unleaded 43mm NAGBs to be very satisfying.

Yes it’s the Baton Rouge chips. Blaze Orange $1K. The casino was renamed to Hollywood in 2006 I believe. So if the chips were made then they would be 18 years old.
