Well, you shouldn't be banned if you did it. There's nothing in PCF community guidelines against the ad -- it's a sales ad with a price, and that's pretty much the extent of regulation.

Like I said above, April Fools is a decade away from being the next Arbor Day. The reason why @flipupchipup shouldn't be banned is not because he posted his ad on a "protected" day, it's because he didn't do anything outside the rules.

But I'd argue that based on this precedent, anyone should be able to post prank ads, so long as the ad follows the posted community guidelines. The price the seller may or may not pay is a risk to their credibility. But they shouldn't be banned.

If that doesn't sit well with folks, we can petition @Tommy to update the guidelines.

For me, I prefer less regulation in all non-critical areas of life. And despite being contradicted by the amount of time I spend on this board, chipping is a non-critical area

My last interaction with Tommy and mods I was essentially told rules don’t matter - it’s Tommy’s site and he can do what he wants. From what I can gather, it’s mostly socially engineered. If someone posts and it’s not reported, no moderation, if someone posts and it is reported, modded.

Can’t argue with that, and can’t argue with your great temperament!

Let’s keep on chipping, and I hope I don’t get banned for “thread crapping” now!
