TI Casino in MN is swapping out their chips to new ones (1 Viewer)

I actually have one of the $1's at home. Last I looked at it, I thought it was unweighted.

If I thought I could get them in quantity, I would've considered them instead of the Four Queens BJs, which have been tough to locate.

I would love to get a hold of some Mystic Lake Bud Jones chips - that was my first casino experience growing up in the Twin Cities.

When I was last TI (maybe 10 years ago?) I remember them having some really annoying Chipco chips at the blackjack tables (still not a big Chipco fan).

Once it was these:

Now it's these??

Nice upgrade. o_O

Those are amazing. I can see a relabel set with:

Lav nickles
Yellow quarters
Blue dollars
Red 5’s
Green 20’s

EDIT: maybe black $1’s...

I'll be honest, if it is the Paulsons they are retiring, these are the chips that make me hate white chips.

They never took good care of these and the whites are beat to hell. I will have to get over there to check out their new ones.

Those chips suck in person. Especially when you consider the beautiful THC 1's that they used to have :(

As a new chipper, random question (and I did try googling what I could).
What’s the process for casinos to do out with old and in with the new? Do they utilize specific second hand retailers or have trusted buyers they refer to depending on brand/location?

Some states have regulations that require obsolete cash checks to be destroyed. Others allow post-redemption sales/auctions to licensed or otherwise approved entities (like TheChipRoom). Some states only allow it under special circumstances (bankruptcy, etc.) as a way to help repay creditors.

I really have no idea where Minnesota is at on this. Canterbury has been using the same checks since 2000 (Bud Jones), Running aces opened in 2008 ish (Chipco), and Treasure Island has been open since at least the 1990s (I believe when casino gambling was first permitted) but didn't get poker until around 2005. (Paulson's for poker, but I think some Bud Jones in the pit.)

I understand Grand Casino Hinckley gave up poker a while ago, but I don't know if they had separate checks. Maybe @honkydevil knows more about that.

Bottom line, I don't know if there has ever been a major availability of Minnesota chips available in bulk. I think this would be a first if they hit the market.

That said, as I said above, the white were pretty trashed after about two years of poker. Get your salad spinners and uv cleaners going for sure if you buy.

So looking closer the ones in the picture are the ones they use in the pit. If you look at the chip guide link, the ones with the Royal Flush logo are the poker room checks. If it is the pit ones are probably be in better shape. Though I haven't seen the new ones that they marked in play April 2019. I don't get to treasure island that often. They are an hour away, Canterbury is only 15 minutes.

Seperate confirmed. Bud Jones in the poker room, and Paulson on the table games.

Are casinos going away from Paulsons? I don't follow this closely, but I'm getting that impression.

Any information on this chip would be greatly appreciated!

These were sold in the gift shop in the late 90's. I have a mini rack of them. Came with 13 $5 and 13 $25 chips. I also bought the $100 chip key chain.
