Evening.
So whilst busy working on various chips for my first set, I know that I will need to get labels made up for my quarters and nickels. I tell myself I'm thinking ahead and being prepared, but really I'm just very excitable for my first set and getting carried away! I am likely going to get this label for quarters and a different design for nickels. My $1's and $5's I plan to keep as real Vegas RHC's.
So, onto the quarter. The chip will be Aransas Queen $25's with an over label. My lucky card protector for many years has been the Tangiers brass $100 chip (from the movie), so thought I'd run with that for the theme. Using the pink/salmon colour from the AQ chip for the accent colour. Below is my work in progress, I'm still changing things around but figured I'd post here and get feedback from folks who know more than me!

Cheers, Matt!...be gentle :wow:

Agreed, I want to see the rest of the set to see it in context.

But offhand, looks freaking great!

Looks really cool, I love the Tangiers theme. The red 12-sided border is a bit jarring for me (maybe just on screen) but I like referring to the edge spot color.

Thanks guys. I'll get some pics of the proposed set over the weekend - I A) I haven't bought all of the chips yet ,and B) Won't see them in person for a good while until they make their way to the UK. But hoping to use Ysabel 1's as nickels - the base colour matches the blue edge spot of the AQ nicely. Then a mix of RHC one1, mainly blue edge spots.

Kind of agree @jag217 on the 12 sides, will mock up a selection of shapes to see how they work, although I guess you can't beat the good old circle inlay :)

Here is the current planned line up. Also just snagged some Jack $1's to go with the collection. The red $5's aren't final yet either but gives an idea of where I'm heading.

Looks good there. I assume (left to right) 0.05, 0.25, 1.00, 5.00
Which $1 are you going to use?
Thanks dude. Yep nickels on the left and up from there.
I couldn't choose my favourite white $1 so going to use a mix of casino 1's. So far have a barrel (or less) of Ballys, Binions, Lucky Dragon and Jacks

Still busy with these designs, on Tangiers I quite like the lower left image above with the rounded cog style inlay (I'm sure theres a technical name for it!).
Also, what started out as a joke design may become the label for my nickels. I am still tweaking this but really pleased so far. Yes, I know it's going onto RHC chips which is not what they used in Rounders, but hey ho!

I think the round Tangiers label looks great! Are you planning on relabeling all of the chips? Also, I see that the Bally’s chip is on the THC mold, whereas the other two options for the $1 chip are on the RHC mold. Maybe I overlooked you saying this, but I would personally keep it as RHC across all chips.

1. No mold OCD issues
2. More widely available
3. More label art room!

Everything is looking great! I’m excited to see where this goes!

Personally, I don’t like just one dark label with the rest light in a chip lineup. Can you try a lighter version? The design looks good though.

I was just thinking that the Rounders-inspired labels could look really cool with a darker background and a red star. That sorts of screams “Mother Russia”, haha.

Current plan is to relabel the nickels and quarters, but the 1's and 5's will stay as they are. The 1's are a mix of casino's which seemed like a cool idea. I was planning on using RHC only - as you say, to keep everything the same mold. But I got a bit carried away last week buying up barrels of 1's. So now my mixed 1's can be either RHC or THC  :whistling: I'm hoping to make my firstVegas trip in the next 12 months so looking to grow the collection some more.

You make a good point. I just updated my image with my collection of 1's, and also now that I have finalised my $5. Turns out a large portion of them have darker labels, so I may need to work on my nickel design and bring that a bit darker to match. A more 'Mother Russia' as mentioned above :wow: Will have a play around. Here is the up to date chip line up (not labels).

This is a very quick throw together, but not sure the Ysabel can pull off a dark label. Will continue to fettle with it :)
edit - I think it's actually the red that's the jarring factor here, with the more muted edge spots on the Ysabel. It's clearly not very Russian friendly!

Quick update on this after some days tinkering with the designs. Below is where I've settled. Pretty pleased with both, but still end up making some small changes before I send them for print. Also a pic showing the current chip collection for an idea of what they'll be splashing with.

Ysabel $1 makes a great frac… Kinda a weird color, not really traditional Vegas or Cali... And it plays well with the right white $1, IMO.

Good choice!

Thanks. Yeah it's a cool looking chip and gives a good spot progression. Just need to hurry up and get everything shipped to me now :nailbite:
