Things That Are Bullsh*t (23 Viewers)

Being so oblivious and self-important that you would park like this at a Marshall’s.

Now try driving a fire truck through that parking lot. That cutout area is there for a reason, and that dickhead just forced a 15-point turn to make it to the front of the store.

Getting our back deck re-done. It was basically a walkway 3 feet wide that led to a small deck where I have my BBQ. It's so narrow because our "backyard' is a half acre of pretty steep forested area and the deck was built on the floor joists that extended out of the house, so no support colums. We are extending it out to make the deck usable and the forest is just too awsome to be looked at though windows. So we picked out a contractor, talked extensively and came up with a plan. We are into it $40K and we had to put a hard stop on work because the deck only goes out 8 feet. We thought we had agreed on 12 feet. The shitty part is we didn't get blueprints, just square footage data. It was a miscommunication, but one that is going to cost us another $21K to make right. The work is extensive because the grade of the hill, and safety is our main concern... but $21K on top of what was already a pretty decent investment sucks.

We figure it's worth it though because we will be able to use the area, and already at 8' it makes you feel like you are in the forrest. At 12' I am hoping it will make me feel like I'm eating in an ewok village.

This is where it was at when we put a hard stop on it. The deck is amost 30' long but you get the idea. The 4 extra feet will make a huge difference, but FML... Another $21K??? Bullshit!!!

That's one hell of a miscommunication. Brutal.
But it'll look awesome, definite treehouse vibes

Having built decks, especially on steep terrain, that extra 4' could be a massive undertaking. Without walking the area, I can't say what I would bid on the project, but 54% more cost for 50% more deck, possibly much longer support beams, and difficult terrain to work on... you might be getting a bargin.

Yup. I tend toward miserable bastard at times. If I were on a different continent, I'd have to quit the hobby or explode.
Once you get over the fact that you have to pay more for shipping, 10-20% in import fees on everything, and that half of PCF doesn’t want to sell to you or buy from you because “reasons,” being an international chipper isn’t all that bad! :ROFLMAO:

I did 5 interviews for a job. 5 !!!!

After interview 1, the person suggested I wasn't qualified for the job, but they proceeded anyway. Took time out of my days for that, left work early, and made sure I was available. The final interview was ridiculous, and I knew I wouldn't get the job.

Recruiter called me today and read, verbatim, the feedback from the interviewers. Some of it was not very nice. Said he wanted open lines of communication instead of sending a rejection email.

I'd rather have had the rejection email honestly.

At the end of the day, I wasn't taking this job no matter what anyway, as it would have been a 90 min commute there, and 2 hour commute home. Even if they offered me 50% more money and bonuses (which is close to what this offered), it wouldn't have been worth it.

I'm not upset that I didn't get the job, just pissed that he had to read me those comments and that the 1st person said I wasn't qualified (which I am not) and wasted my time.

That's not self important. That's just plain stupid. They are literally parked where other cars need to drive. I hope someone hit them.

Self important is the jerk in a crowded parking lot like this one who is smack in the middle of FOUR spaces. I wanted to squeeze in up against his driver's door, but I figured they would just do something to my truck, so I didn't.

“And would you like your balance printed on your receipt?”

What am I missing here? Why on earth would somebody NOT want their balance printed on their receipt, after making a deposit or a withdrawal from their bank account.

You have a knack for finding odd things grating.

I don't want my balance printed, I have no reason to have my balance printed.

I don’t trust any person or any system not to screw up. I want to see what they think the balance is, every single time.
Are you talking about banking in person? Where a bank employee would ask you that?

I thought my mother-in-law was the only person who still does their banking in person.

People who PM interest without posting in the thread. What’s the big secret?

It's smart. They're probably still more than happy to share with friends and such, but as far as the greater public:

1 - why let everyone know what type of offers or deals you do
2 - why let everyone know what chips you potentially have or are interested in
3 - why let people know at what costs chips were privately exchanged for
etc. etc. etc.

Protects your privacy, protects your peace, and most importantly protects your $.

I totes get it, almost everyone I consider an acquaintance or friend does it (they smart), but I say thee nay. If I have a thread and someone PMs, generally I'll tell them to post. Or if it's one of the few times that I do let it go PM, I'll at minimum post the exact cost before closing thread, and if they don't mind who bought them as well.

I'm very obviously not smart.

The last 4 wanted ads I’ve responded to have not actually wanted anything.
I’m with you. They want to window shop. Anybody that doesn’t list what they are willing to pay is not serious.

Wanted: Chips! Show me what you have!
