That was about two years ago at my own company.

Thus, it's PCF on my phone using cell towers if/when I want to see PCF while at work.

Thats exactly what happened, I used click-n-ship and print at post office for both packages. I was in a rush sending @MC_CPA chips so I used the kiosk. Must have used the same QR code both times resulting in the duplicate tracking #.

Miraculously they didn't end up in USPS limbo. Especially considering the 2nd package was in a FRSB, while the label was for a padded envelope.

Luckily the chipper who received it was an honest guy and notified me right away. Considering they only been a member for a month I was pleasantly surprised and extremely grateful.

Despite the fortunate outcome it was a valuable lesson learned.

Yep, a majority of detached single family homes. Fireplace is on, but gratefully not terribly cold where we’re at. The wind storm that brought our second atmospheric river in a week brought a tree down on the lines. There’s major flooding down in the valley. Gratefully we’re well out of the flood zones.

USPS (again). LFR package traveled uneventfully through multiple locations/scans for 2000 miles w/ no problems and is marked "out for delivery" by the local po. It was never delivered. Now local PO is telling recipient that there were "two labels" on the package that confused them? So, their story is that at the very last stop before delivery, it is allegedly pulled from the delivery lady by a sorter because it has a second label and was allegedly sent back to the regional sorting center but they think it will be returned in a day or two and it has not been scanned again (last scan still showing it is being processed at destination)?

Sounds like bullshit to me. I really hope it works out for the recipient. Anyone else ever run into anything similar?

It’ll be interesting to see who cares about provenance and non intrinsic value of chips in the next decades/generations. We’re still very, very close in time (within 1 lifetime) of many of these chips being created or in use.

In 30-40 years a huge % of the forum/hobby will be deceased (myself very much likely included).

Are people really going to care about some old Vegas haunt or even less so non Vegas random asm or Burt manufactured this or that?

lol I can see it now, 100 total collectors left just passing the chips back and forth trying to artificially inflate/make them worth something since there’s no one left to care except for a handful of okkus.

I only imagine the passion and admiration will grow as Clay becomes less common and more nostalgic for people. Collectible hobbies are usually ones that you can’t predict.

Vegas in 20 years nothing but electronics and people yearning for clay chips…

I just assumed the nostalgic would come to an end as pretty quickly people only know clay from movies and media and ish.

There’s already almost no Vegas clay worth taking already, so from a nostalgia factor, we’re already cutting it off at earliest those in their 30s 40s.

Seems like it will be a battle between obscurity/rarity pushing up while numbers/collectors pushing down. Then again we’ve seen collector numbers continually rise.

No clue. Funnily enough, we have to be one of the biggest pools in the world regarding interest for this stuff, and we’re probably the largest sole reason for chips being destroyed and history erased :ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

Most of my players really enjoy clay chips. I’m a pretty persuasive salesmen and have a great collection but all of my local games have added clay to their games and imho our hobby lacks education and knowlesge and ease of buying.

If you want clay chips you have to jump into a forum and fight a lot of barriers to get a set. Not easy for instant gratification. Hence why plastic metal slugs win 99% of the time. And why tigers have held their prices. Nice website nice colors and instant availability.

Sure most live vegas r not amazing but still average at worse. Clay >>> anything.

My god those were some garbage chips. They played HORRIBLY. I owned them, played them, instantly listed next day. Mix of cjs and Paulsons and just blech when every chip stacked/sounded/felt diff.

I’m a dummy so idk their historical significance, or if I even had real ones/original set.

Usable, good sets and historical provenance do battle once again….

Yeah, I'm very anti-murder these days on rare hot-stamps and casino chips, especially when they are a mix of both. We must preserve history!

if we cared, it would be common practice for sales of chips with history to be listed as “preference to those not murdering”.

But like everything else, this is a marketplace first, second, and third. Anything else isn’t even real, it’s a wozzie it’s a woozie.

Can we do a nice in between?

We can vote on a senate. 4-5 people, like the HoF committee.

You want to murder something? Submit them your design. If it’s not ugly as f*ck, you can do it.

They can help prevent some of the chips that have died only to become part of a deformed amalgam.

That way everyone can be like awwwwwww sad face chips died and then awwwwwww happy face that’s awesome what a great relabel set they’re part of now.

Part of me agrees. But then I wonder if the future people who will never experience playing with chips in a casino (let alone clays) will even care about dunes or Binions or Tropicana’s.
