Welcome to Las Vegas, Durango!

I just got home from the grand opening — the chips exceeded my expectations. Shocked they went house mold (first stations casino to do so).

See photos!

My new favorite $2 in town. :)

The “grand opening” chips are subtly different….I only saw a $25 and a $5.

Wish the inlays were better, but the colors work. And, it’s cool (in my opinion) that all of the inlays are different colors.

The chips I was able to gather are pictured…minty day one fresh!

Selling the complete 7 chip sample $100, both $25s, both $5s, a $2, and a $1…. $250 shipped conus.

If you want a partial sample, make an offer.

Thanks!!!

In my opinion, a new Vegas house mold is a big deal :)

Please jump in and tag anyone who you may think may be interested!!

And, this is more of a “check this out” thread than a sales thread….

But, I suffered through a ton a traffic/parking hassle to get in there on day one…so enjoy, PCFers!!!

Lastly, please blow this thread up!

Thoughts…love….like???

in my opinion……

love the hundos, love the $25s….even the $5s are pretty good.

The ones are a little weak.

The $2s (pai gow table side bets is where I found these) are spicy.

Inlays….. :cautious:

I’m actually a fan of the color/spots/progression and it’s a solid clean house mold. I see what they were going for color matching the inlays, but they’re just too big a blob of solid color with tiny text and no design elements.

Would pay a premium for a few racks of the $2s, just sayin…

I'm not a house mold kind of guy.

Inlays look like someone could have made a bit more effort.... lol

I'm going to agree with this.

Bellagio 98's were very simple, but had that elegance behind it. The simple gradient in the background to the edge of the chip adds so much while still being very simple.

Durango kept things very simple with their inlays.... And that's it. It's plain and simple.

Let's continue with the critique of the chips with the clay part.

First, at least this looks to be GPI, and not that plastic crap. So kudos to whoever made that decision.

The $1. Is that showboat grey with 2 blue stripes? I like it.

The snapper: Hot pink with 3 metallic gold. I love it.

$5: Looks like the Wynn with three instead of four. I'm ok with it.

$25: Brown stripes. If you didn't know that I don't like brown on chips, now you do. I don't like it.

$100: The colors are great. I love it.... except for the 5V. I know GPI did this because its a unique "security" pattern, but 5 is always going to be asymmetrical (2 one color, three the other). So you always have two V's of the same color together, and that just looks wrong to me. Unless it aligns with the inlay (which it never does) it will always look "off." (If the two same color V's were at the bottom on the inlay, it would look awesome.)

My OCD when I look at the two V's of the same color next to each other...

I wouldn't mind a rack of $1s and/or $2s at an affordable price to help complete a house mold set.

The Durango is far from your typical Vegas local casino….no movie theater, no bowling, no kids club/child care, no fast food, no poker room, no arcade.

Yes $185 steak, yes hidden speak east behind upscale fusion restaurant, yes trendy LA/NYC food outlets….

Mold, chip and inlay design all get a resounding "meh" from me.

Pink $2 chip would make a nice frac in a Vegas housemold set.

$1 and $25 are safe edge spot designs. Nothing special, but not terrible.

$5 does nothing for me. The 3DS18 spot pattern is one of my least favourites. 4DS18 would have been a far better choice imo.

The $100 is downright terrible and asymmetrical edge spot designs should be banished to Hades.

Inlay appears to have been whipped up in 2 seconds using Office Word.

Overall: better than ICON chips, I suppose, but that's about it imo.

Yeah, the $100 with 2+3 edge spots would give me a brain hemorrhage. Why not go with 5 different colors instead?

I dig the color schemes as well as the inlays. There is quite a bit of like. Not a ton of love though. :)

I agree, that $2 would make a perfect 0.25 cent piece - and with my experience, the house mold inlays are pretty easy to remove compared to non-house molds. A fresh new label from @Gear could spice this chip up a little bit.
