I’m against oiling Paulsons.

Let the pizza hands and chicken wingers do the dirty work
Agree. "Natural" oiling is plenty for Paulsons.

CPC's? Dip those suckers in a whole vat of mineral oil.

Normally I’m against oiling brand new Paulsons too, but I absolutely agree. New hot stamps need oil badly. I assume something to do with the hotstamp process, but they are so dry compared to new inlaid chips.

I agree, although I'm not completely convinced it's the hot stamping process. For the Faro Dunes and Rancho Agaves, some chips really look like they would benefit from some J&J but some are totally fine.

So it might be a combination of base color and the hot stamping process.

Another counter example is Aurora Star hot stamp tourney in which none of the chips remotely required oiling...

I don't know... For some reason the latest chips to me looks and fee a bit like old school Paulsons. Bit more chalky and heavy (depending on colors).

Or, as I said, it might just be a choice of base colors.

100% agreed. Color is a factor for sure, but the same color in an inlaid chip doesn’t suffer the same dry look as the hot stamped version. So I don’t think it’s strictly base colors.

Quality control just hasn’t been quite the same since RPC imo. Wouldn’t be surprised if that played a part too.

I'm not quite sure about the QC issues. Lots of 'quite not sure' for me today, lol!

I've seen zero issues with both the FDs and RAs QC. If a little dryness is a QC issue, than maybe.

If anything, if one grabs a barrel of the RA $1s for example, he would likely feel like he's grabbing a barrel of chips from the past. They feel different, chalky, heavier. That might be a matter of taste or, as you say, quality control. That chip does nor feel as polished, for lack of a better word, as some other contemporary chips. I love it as an old chip guy.

Don’t get me wrong. I know what you’re describing. It’s not unique to FD/Rancho tho. Since TP had almost a full rack of unique chips I was able to analyze it all. I am extremely nitpicky with chips so these QC issues are things I am sure 99% would never even notice. But they are there. And I have noticed the same QC issues on some colors from even just photos of rancho.

Like you said though - it does truly seem very color dependent for all of these things.

Hey - this isn't the show us your Faro Dunes thread. Nor is it the show us you oiled your chips thread. This is the Show me your Rancho Agave thread!!! Get these subpar chips outta here......noob.

Love ya pro.

Love ya pro = Bless his heart

The oil definitely makes these pop more, but somehow makes the blaze even more tough to capture (no editing):

Stamps still fuck. That is all.
The oil really sharpens the contrast of the blue edge spot vs the blaze base. Makes both visually pop. Awesome stuff.
