Tampa Hard Rock Opening Night (2 Viewers)

Yeah, at my work they specifically have stated that disposable gloves are NOT allowed in lab work areas, you're better off washing your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer vs wearing gloves that you might not clean as easily.......
Masks I can totally get behind, but the gloves are as useless as the plexiglass screens at the tables.......... :banghead:
Today, the bank tellers were wearing gloves. What the hell is that going to do?

@Anthony Martino how are the games? Would think they are good based on the apps out there (Pokerrr2 & Bros) promoting action and players finding ways to "get there" on the river.

I can only speak to the game I played in. Once 3 better players left to play the 2/5 game my 1/2 was good.

Kid on my left was spewing, all-in pre with 2236 and just playing rubbish

One nit remained, rest of the players were pretty soft.

I played hold em for a short while and saw a guy lead into multiple players with Tens on a KQ3 two spade flop after calling a preflop raise OOP

Poker is alive and well

I'm still gonna wear gloves during surgery ;)

I'm sure you will, but please let us know when dividers come down, when you notice dealers not wearing gloves and when masks are no longer required. Its so cheap and easy, I imagine hand sanitizer will always be available. Also, let us know if you see the return of hooker juice*.

* - It was my post, I'm dibsing 'The Return of Hooker Juice' as the name for my future punk band...

Andy Slater tweeted this photo showing activity last night in a poker room at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa, two hours after it re-opened. He said there were 106 people on the waiting list for 18 tables, with a maximum of 6 players in each game.

I have seen stories about several other casinos that are trying to lure everyone back in, with new social distancing measures that will be ineffective, and promises to keep the gaming areas clean. Yet in this case, players were not required to wear face masks — and they were all still touching the cards and chips.
So, the idiots are showing up, creating a herd that will thin itself. The irony is that the ones who are sitting down at those tables are probably the easiest to take money from because critical thinking is not in their skill sets. Of course, even a moron can hit a two-outer.

Note the plexiglass dividers between the players. While l I like six-handed play, I don’t want to feel like I’m in a phone booth (that’s a reference younger players won’t even get)."

Someday they'll be saying "when I'm using my phone, I don't want to feel like I'm in a poker booth".

But new CDC reports say surface exposure is less of a concern than previously thought. So the "everyone is touching these cards and chips" argument appears to be not relevant anymore

So I guess to the writer of that article my response is supposed to be...."Ok Boomer"

No, your conclusion is unwarranted. They're saying the virus lives for a shorter time on some surfaces. That "shorter time" is still much longer than a hand or session of poker.

p.s. The vast majority of the most experienced and respected experts in almost any technical field you can name are boomers.

Stay-home orders that extend too long could cause the U.S. “irreparable damage,” Dr. Anthony Fauci warned Friday.

Strict crackdowns on large gatherings and other orders, such as for home quarantines, were needed when the coronavirus first hit the nation, but those rules can now begin to be lifted in many parts of the country, Fauci said during an interview on CNBC."

Coming from me, a health care professional:

He's not wrong.

Even if there is another outbreak this fall, the economy can't take another hit like it did the past 6 to 8 weeks. If there's another similar lockdown later this year or early next year, literally nothing besides Amazon, Walmart, Target, supermarket chains, and maybe some restaurants will survive. The economy would be even more of a disaster.

Almost 10% of the entire population of the US lost their jobs. Prorate that to include those of working age, and it's at least 20% of the adult, working population. That's absolutely nuts to think about.

That article never defined (maybe the author never asked) what Fauci meant by irreparable damage.

Irreparable damage to the economy? I don't think Fauci has those credentials. Irreparable damage to our immune system/ability to fight this disease? He couldn't have meant that after he said that a vaccine is possible by December.

Your guess is as good as mine... My point for posting this is not to turn this into a political/health debate. It's just to point out that 're-opening' society, including reopening Florida casinos, could avoid 'irreparable damage' (whatever that means).

To me it implied economical damage, though it wasn't outright stated in the article as you mentioned.

I'm happy to discuss it elsewhere as well, but this isn't the place.

Was off Wed/Thurs this week, played Friday. The PLO games were terrible, both the 1/2 and 2/5 with a rock. We had four tables going but my experience was you'd have 1 fish and the rest of the players were all nits or competent players. I was up $140 at my high point, down $400 at my low point, and managed to squeak out a $100 win on the day and got the hell out of there after about 6 hours and playing on multiple tables.

I think what's happened is we've seen an influx of pros from south florida who don't have their poker rooms open, so they all got Airbnb's up in Tampa to grind here, which was just making the games awful yesterday.

Tonight I'm playing a 48-person home game tourney, so should be a fun time and a break from the norm.

Fortunately my most profitable game, the 1/2/5 at Luckys returns this Monday. They're doing 7-handed (8-handed if players request it), masks required and provided, temp checks but no plexiglass and max rake of $4, plus free food (which they've always done for PLO players on Mondays)

I've been spreading the word so expecting to see some good games there at least. No plexiglass will be nice. It's really difficult to hear other players and the dealer with masks AND the plexiglass. Plus everyone keeps scraping up their hands on the bottom of the plexiglass when they go to place bets.

That being said, I noticed the Hard Rock in Tampa has started installing plexiglass on some of the tables that were closed. I can only assume they are gearing up for Phase 2 of our states re-opening, perhaps expecting to be able to go to 75% capacity instead of 50%. I'd rather see them remove the plexiglass instead of add more, plus go to 8-handed instead of 6, but it doesn't appear that's what they're doing. :(
