I currently run T2000 tournaments with stating stacks of
25 x T5
15 x T25
5 x T100
2 x T500
We usually have 16 players. The guys like the larger starting stacks and these come out to nice and easy number for color-ups.

I want to host the occasional deep stack tournament (T5000 or 500BB to be exact.) I'm thinking that I'll limit this event to a max of 10 players. I want to use the same blind structure that we currently use, just change the blind levels to 30 minutes each. Here's a copy of the blind schedule we use, if it helps with your suggestions.

I'm stuck on how to properly adjust my starting stacks.
Should I use T1000 chips?
Should I just add additional T100 and T500 chips?
How would you handle color-ups? Use all T1000?

Thanks in advance for you help, suggestions and tweaks.

Your blind structure with 10 x T5000 stacks and 30-minute levels will run about 8.5 hours plus breaks (~7 hours for 25-minute levels, or ~5.5 hours for 20-minute levels, plus time for breaks). .

I'd go with the following T5000 starting stacks (I think you need more T100s and T500s):
25 x T5
15 x T25
10 x T100
7 x T500
------------
57 chips

Use a combination of T1000s and T500s to color-up the T5, T25, and T100 chips:
T5 - three T500s (covers the T1250 in T5 chips)
T25 - four T1000s.(covers the T3750 in T25 chips)
T100 - ten T1000s (covers the T10000 in T100 chips)

Should leave around 87 total chips in play at the tournament end once the T100s are removed, and it won't be necessary to remove the T500s.

Although I think this starting stack config works out much better for color-ups with 10 players (and you never need more than 20x per player of any single denom):
20 x T5 (= T1000, or one T1000 chip for color-up)
16 x T25 (= T4000, or four T1000 chips for color-up)
10 x T100 (= T10000, or ten T1000 chips for color-up)
7 x T500
------------
53 chips

Leaving 70 x T500 and 15 x T1000 chips (85 total) in play at tourney end.

25 x T5
15 x T25
10 x T100
7 x T500

I'll use this if I have 8 or 16 (if I ever try it as a two table event) players.

20 x T5 (= T1000, or one T1000 chip for color-up)
16 x T25 (= T4000, or four T1000 chips for color-up)
10 x T100 (= T10000, or ten T1000 chips for color-up)
7 x T500

I've thought about this one for 10 players but I've never had a 10 player game. I'll definitely give it a shot.

Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for.
