Canceled T500/$500 with a different mold (1 Viewer)

Updated: I am building a tournament set and looking for T500s of a different mold.

I currently have:
Paulson RHC Cleveland HS$5s
Paulson THC Empress $25s
BCC flame CDI $100s
Placeholder hotstamp 500s
CPC CSQ Rounders $1ks
BCC Cigar/Snifter $5ks

First goal: T500/$500 with a different mold: something like suited HC, CPC Scroll, or Greek key mold. Keeping it clay too.
Second goal: I'm looking for cheap options for a $500 that looks good - definitely under $2/chip. Not looking to relabel. Ideally $150/rack
Third goal: I would be looking for 2 racks.

Please post or PM me with options! I don't know what's out there! What you got? :D

Consolidating it into a different thread.

This post reminds me what it was like to be young and be a dreamer. ;)

If you're open to colors other than black, there are racks of white Lucky Derby $100 hotstamps from California out in the wild that were reasonably priced for 100s. But even these chips may not be worn down to the level of the HS $5s & Empress $25s. (I have some of each of those.). And on the well used chips, the hotstamps are partially or completely worn off.

Otherwise, if exact matching condition is important, and you need 2 racks, it may be cheaper to pick another chip and relabel them as $100s. Something like blue El Dorado $1s, mustard Casino Royale $1s, or some other of the Lucky Derby Casino chips (the dark gray $20s would be sweet if you can find them, but the brown $5s might be more available in quantity).

@AWenger does that mean that my idea of getting casino used 100s for a cheap price is a pipe dream? Is it that in general $100s aren't that casino used because of the high denomination or that the scarcity (and therefore the price) of 100s increases dramatically from 5s and 25s? Or both?

Am I going through the typical chipper progression of trying to convert my initial cash set chips into a worn tournament set to only realize that if I want them to match, I will have to get less worn $5s and $25s? o_O:banghead:

Answers are pretty much: Yes. Both. Yes. But there may always be exceptions.

Sometimes the hunt is more exciting then the catch so don't let me discourage you from hunting for however long it takes to find two racks of hundos in used condition.

Bump. @AWenger - I shall not give up hope!

But maybe I’ll open up my options... ;) I could be interested in worn black or gray chips that could get relabeled as T100s. Ideas?

Big fan of the Avalon and building a set as well. Being a newbie - is it “poker sacrilege” to mix inlays and hot stamps?

It depends on how it's done. And what you like. I've seen lots of sets with a hotstamp quarter and the rest of the cash set with labels.

We all have our own level of OCD to deal with... Do what your OCD tells you.
^^^This. I try to use chips that make me happy and it's a bonus if others like it too!
