So I am stuck on if I want to run a T10000 or T20000

My chips I have:
120x 25's
120x 100's
40x 500's
80x 1k's
40x 5k's

Do I want to drop a barrel of 5k's and pick up another barrel of 500's?

Any thoughts on this?

With 8 players that's either 12/12/5/6 or 12/12/5/6/2 depending on your initial stack. You won't have much rebuy capacity at T20000 though.

Also if I was to turn this into a 500 piece chip set what would you guys recommend for the next 100 chips?

I think if you were to add on to this I’d go for another 80 500’s and maybe 20 more 1k’s

If your max is 8 players you don't need more than 40 T500, i.e. 5 per player. Except maybe for spares. 12/12/5/6/X is a good starting stack, where X=0 for 10k and X=2 for 20k, and there is no need to add more T500 during the tournament.

Bounties, seating chips, show'em chips, rebuy chips, rabbit hunt chips, zip-it chips. If you allow rebuys you need more T5k.

At minimum, add 40 T1000s and 40 T5000s. Some T25000s might hit the table if there are a lot of rebuys, so 20 of those.

It looks like you were planning 10 stacks of 12/12/3/7 with your current breakdown.
You could change to 12/12/5/6 by adding one more barrel of T500s, but I wouldn't add any more than that.

If you are considering T20000, you would do either 12/12/3/7/2 or 12/12/3/12/1.

To do the latter you need to add 60 * T1000, and then 40 * T5000 would be helpful to cover the larger re-entries.

You could also add 20 * T500, 60*T1000, 20 * T5000 for 100 chips, that would give you 10 stacks of 12/12/5/11/1.

At base T25, I really don't think T25K chips are necessary unless we are talking about a larger multi-table set. (Think about it T25K * 20 chips is T500K, you will never be in a siutation where you would want your whole tournament represented by 20 chips, and that's 25 entries at T20K as it is, really only consider T25K chips when we are talking closer to T1M in play, I would suspect that's about a 4-table minimum.)

So to summarize, I think increasing capability to T20K is a good use for the "next 100" chips, and these two options accomplish that.

1) 60 * T1000, and then 40 * T5000 (Yields 10 T20K stacks of 12/12/3/12/1)
2) 20 * T500, 60*T1000, 20 * T5000 (Yields 10 T20K stacks of 12/12/5/11/1)

Just comes down to your preference of 3 or 5 T500 in your starting stack.

Good luck.

I agree. From my experience you could start adding some T25k chips with 400k in play, but they'll only really be used when all in. At 6-700k in play they start becoming useful and around 800k-1m I would say they are needed. YMMV

You really aren’t giving much information to work with.

How many rebuys? Unlimited? Plan on growing your game ever?

As stated before, you already have plenty of chips, especially for 8 players. Your 40 T5000 chips are enough for color ups and for 2 rebuys per player if you start with T10K stacks. If you start with T20k stacks you have enough T5000 chips for one T10K rebuy or add on per player.

T25k chips are pointless an unnecessary for such a small set. Get then if you want however, it’s your set.
