Royal Flush
I received a set of these chips over the weekend and I love them.
I remember getting a sample set of these chips after the first boardwalk group buy. I played with them a bit, decided I'd want some when the right design came along, and then sold the samples off to somebody else. But that was over a year ago, and I guess I'd either never realized just how cool these chips were, or I'd just forgotten.
They're a joy to handle. They stack "like bricks" (yeah I know everybody says that about every chip they like, but these do, so there you go.) They sound great. And they're the easiest shuffling chips I've ever handled. Ceramics tend to be easy to shuffle, but they also tend to be so slippery that I lose control over the stacks if I'm shuffling a lot of them. I'm not sure if these hybrids are actually less slippery, or if their larger size just makes them easier to control, but whatever it is, they just work great.
The only negative I can come up with so far is that I don't love the glossy labels. Mostly just a personal preference thing, I guess, though I do wonder how they'll age. I know they're available with matte finish labels and I'd love to check those out at some point.
But these chips have become a pretty popular choice over the past year and for good reason. I've recently downsized my collection to almost the minimum, but I think there will always be room for a set of these chips.
