One of the guys in our league will be in Toronto, and is dropping in there for other stuff. Can I turn away from what is essentially free shipping? I may see a 2nd WSOP card setup in my collection...

What would you guys recommend, the kem wsop cards or the prestige? I think I'm going to put in an order for some table supplies soon.

Well, it all depends on what you like to use, as they are quite different.

Kem WSOP cards
- KEM-made cellulose acetate plastic cards with Bicycle faces
- bridge size (3.5" h x 2.25" w)
- standard index
- two decks. Both have a white back...one has red accents, the other has black accents. They are very distinguishable if you have two decks in use.
- fairly smooth and flexible. Similar in feel to Copags.
- I haven't used mine yet, so I can't say how durable they are.
- card case is a two deck cardboard container.

Bicycle Prestige
- Fournier-made PVC plastic cards with Bicycle faces
- poker size (3.5" h x 2.5" w)
- standard index
- one deck per case. The special is for one red deck and one blue deck together.
- Have a more "gritty" feel to them, and are a thicker card. Stiffer than Kem's or Copag cards.
- The ink on the faces tends to wear off in small dots over time, but it isn't that bad IMHO.
- The case for each deck is a black cardboard box, and one of the nicest card boxes I've seen.

As to which ones are better, it all depends on what you are used to and what you like. If you are used to playing in a casino poker room, then you might prefer the Kem WSOP cards, as my understanding is that bridge-size Kems are normal in many casinos (note: my in-laws buy used paper decks from Casino Windsor, and they are poker-sized...but they probably were used at blackjack tables). If you are used to playing with poker size Bicycle paper playing cards, then the Prestige cards might be more your speed.

For the money, you can get one set of each right now for the price of one setup of Copags, and much cheaper than one set of normal Kems @ $33/setup. If you are not sure, buy both, especially if you are having them shipped to you. Gotta justify the $$$ for shipping ($12). ;) When we bought cards for our group, we started with the Prestiges as most people were used to poker-sized paper Bicycles, and there was a 10-deck sale at SPS. It was an easy transition for our players...that was two years ago.

No matter which one you buy, be advised that players will mention that any plastic deck will feel "slippery" if they are used to paper cards. They do take some time to get used to, but last much longer. And if someone spills a drink on them, just rinse them off.

Just be warned...once you start buying plastic cards and checking reviews, you'll start to wonder "Is there another style/brand I like more?". It's a very slippery slope...I still keep meaning to sell some of my setups, but for some reason, I just can't seem to get around to it.

(Hmmm...do we need a review section for cards?)

I totally agree with this ^^^ so my suggestion is get it over with buy one of each now save some time and shipping cost

Thanks, yeah I'll just get both I know I'd kick myself later on if I didn't. Only decent cards I have owned were a set of copag but the print seems to be fading on them.

The WSOP Kems are nice to have as a conversation piece, but that is pretty much it. These are a "fair" price for what you are getting strictly in terms of card quality. Overall, I would take the Prestige's, especially at the regular price points for both lines.

USPC Kems are just not worth the money, unless in a sale situation like this one.

We played a 5-handed tourney today, so we tried the WSOP KEM's since we were on the small octagon. They shuffle and handle nice, but like all of the KEMs I've tried, they feel like they hold a bend...the cards just don't snap back flat to the table like other brands. Then again, maybe I've spent too much time using stiffer cards. Overall, if you like bridge size cards, they are a great setup at this price point. I wouldn't buy them, or any Kem's, at regular price. And if you like Kem's, they are a steal at this price.

Just my $0.02,
Dave

Just got back . . . bought two set-ups of the WSOPs, and a setup of Prestige ($12.99). Also picked up a neoprene mat for my dining room table (84x42). Talking to the owner, there will likely be some Paulson's coming to eBay shortly from the Stardust Poker Room in Kahnawake, QC. Apparently they bought the chips from them and flipped the lot to a CTer in Ohio Approx. 50k chips in total split between cash and tourney chips.

SPS had them on eBay selling by the rack for a few hours before they pulled the listing. The purchaser is a member here too, I think.

Wish it was me, but it's not. I did find the closed listing on eBay from SPS which has pics of the tourney chips.

If the above doesn't work:
- Click on "Advanced search" from the main page
- Enter "stardust poker" in the "enter keywords or item number" field.
- Select "completed listings" under "Search including"
- click on search.

It should be one of the first listings.

Noblecountydanny has opened up a vendor thread on CT for them. I'm very tempted, but it depends on the price. We don't play enough cash games to justify them, and I love my Yak tourney set, but still...

Back to the OP... These might be marked cards. At the 2011 WSOP, multiple decks had the same blemishes. I think on the lower spades. That might explain the $10 per setup. Maybe not a big deal unless you play many split or lowball games. Or are picky about your cards. I saw this deal a while ago but decided to pass.

they are great cards if they still have som..

after using 4 decks I have not seen such a blemish

I didn't notice any blemish on them great price for plastic cards thank again spike

A picture of the blemish can be seen at this link, and also at this one. According to the sites, it appeared on the 4 of spades, and on the lower spades under the TV lights. I've looked at my decks, and I'm not seeing when looking at them directly. If it's there, it's not easily seen. I know we played a game about a month ago using the black deck, and no one mentioned anything odd about the cards. I'll take a closer look to see if there's anything that appears if I bend the cards under a direct light.

Honestly, I don't think they are selling at that price due to an error. I think it's simply to move product. They've had them available on the site since 2012.

Bought two set-ups last weekend. I go through my decks as soon as I get home. These were still in the cello, unlike my 2009 set-up. No blemishes on ANY of the cards.
