Starting a chip collection (1 Viewer)

Hi guys,

I live in New Zealand far far away from the mecca of Poker. I am wanting to get into chip collecting so I was wondering what is the best way to get started? At the moment I’m just trying to get volume but once you get a few chips, do you try and collect particular colours/designs/types?

As for collecting it is always a personal decision in the end of course.

I personally would like to have one of each mold to get a feel for the different clay chips that have been manufactured in the past.

For Singles i just like to keep a few beautiful ones around, that i mostly use as card guards, otherwise i try to focus on playable sets. I am bad at focusing though, which leads to me having like a couple of sets that vary from not playable at all to close to being playable in the way I intend to play.

As for specific ways of collecting singles, you could also aim for a manufacturer or mold in the end as well as either official casinos, illegals, or maybe geographic criteria like only Reno or California.
