Made a decision back in 2008 between Loomis and St Croix fishing rods. Bought into St Croix. Bought there Jig -N-Worm rod legend tournament $230. Broke the rod 2 years ago. Thought it was out of warranty, sent to Bass Pro. They couldn't fix it so last resort I called St Croix. After 5 minutes identifying the rod the offer a new rod for $50.

I’ve got St Croix and Loomis rods, love em both and thankfully haven’t had to warranty anything yet!

It was a shock it snapped. I guess long term better to sell the rods off at a discount to update the rods or continue with the older ones. They want me to snap the rod at the bottom. Having a tough time doing that to take a picture..

Ah St Croix, helping make what I pay for poker chips seem not so bad in comparison to what I pay for fly rods. ;)

Poker chips compared to fishing price wise...fishing is much more expensive...

But for some.....

St croix called today. Verify some information. Sending a new rod out by end of Sept. My 6'6 rod will be replaced with a 6'8 as they don't make the shorter one no more. They did offer me an upgrade, but I declined

Excellent

St Croix all the way. You had the legend warranty though. Rod should have been free.

Oct 10 the still no rod. Called them . Running late. Their blaming Covid. Every ones blaming Covid. There more worried about keeping those shelves filled than taking care of warranty work...

I own 7 St Croix rods and love them. I to have broken a few, but by user mistakes. St. Croix has always taken great care of fixing/replacing them. Make sure to register all serial numbers. My guess, the delay is due to the Rona. They are in perspective a small company and therfore have been hit hard and customer service is being effected. Just a guess. Hope it gets revolved soon.

The new rod is 2" longer and I want see how it reacts versus the older one....After sitting around for over a year, I'm gonna hit fishing pretty hard this spring.trying to find a small boat and trailer I can work on this winter for spring...

I refused to snap my rod at the base that they are replacing. Just trying figure out what to with it...

Do you have a good fly shop near you? Many fly shops have rod tips eyelets they can glue onto the broken end. You could also measure the diameter of the the broken end and order a tip to glue on yourself. I have done this to all my broken rods...works great.

The Basspro nearby may have some local suggestions. It went from 6'6 to 5'10...I got a Rick Clunn reel I can put on it. Was looking at an old 2001 Basspro catalog. You familiar with Skeet Reese reels?

My son works at Dick's Sporting Goods and can get St. Croix rods, up to 4 per year, for about 50% off.

He keeps telling me he's gonna max buy them and sell them for 75% of retail on eBay... My comment was, too much work for minimal profit (cost savings eaten up by shipping for the buyer) and I'm sure the promotion says something about resale (and if he gets caught, the promotion is gonna end for him) -- that is, assuming the rod is not somehow marked as NOT FOR RESALE.

No Im not. Im either a Shimano Calcutta or Bass Pro - Pro Qualifier guy.

I never bought any of Skeets, but I see them for sale all the time. When Rick Clunn and Basspro parted they were selling his for $50 each. I bought several. Still haven't used them.

Everyone back then was buying that yellow look....seeing a lot of Lewis reels on Marketplace...

If you ever have an extra $70 bucks laying around next spring get a Pro Qualifier from Bass Pro. At least that what the last sale price was here in MO. Not sure you can beat them for the sale price/value.

Bought a Qualifier in 2011. Didnt like it. I cant speak about the newer 2020 models...

I've been having my eyes on the ST CROIX LEGEND TOURNAMENT TMU73MHF DOWNSIZER for fishing northern pike, should I go for it?

Being a pretty avid musky guy I have had my run ins with many pike. I love my Premier series rods for these very aggressive fish. Never saw the need to spend extra money for high sensitivity materials for a fish that hits like a freight train...lol.

Put the extra money towards a better reel so at the end of the day your hand doesnt want to fall off!
