Each event we have some sort of bonus. It may be for, winning the first hand of a level, or winning with a in your hand (valentines bonus), or one of dozens of other various bonuses where completing a task earns a chit, and the player with the most chits wins the bonus. They can also be used as straight up bounties. So our bounty chips are slightly different... because we're different.

More chitsThat's a cool idea! Tell me more about the bonus...what do they win?
Oh that's great! A relabel like that would be a good fit for my set.My shell mold tournament bounty chip to go with my Majestic Tourney set. (Gear Label)

No, I was just being a dick. Bonuses can be fun with a big crowd. I’d like to hear more about it too.More chits
Agreed. Not generic, but there's something nice about a bounty chip that matches your set.
Thanks!! Gear did a great job. I wanted a China Clay but not a Majestic so it would feel different.Oh that's great! A relabel like that would be a good fit for my set.
So sick.

Bonuses can be fun with a big crowd. I’d like to hear more about it too.
Those sound fun!Winner gets 1/2 a buy-in back at the end of the night.
We vary the bonuses from event to event. While many (43%) are commonplace (Bad Beat, High Hand) we do a lot of quirky bonuses as well. Most of these are "First to..." goals, because I didn't have a comprehensive collection of bounty chips that stood out from the rest of my chips, and in quantity. Now that I do, there will be more "score a point" type bonuses, where the most points at the end of the night (or time period) wins the bonus.
The goal is to not really influence how to play the game. The bonus isn't a goal, but it's better than a sharp stick in the eye. We have a $20 buy-in for most events, so a standard bounty has problems. Either it's a pathetic bonus $1 per KO (and you have to make sure you have a stack of singles available) or a reasonable $5 bounty, but then your prize pool becomes anemic.
- 3 Kings (done around Christmas) A bonus to the first player to win 3 hands with a king in the pocket.
- Agony of Defeat (Olympics) First person to be knocked out of the tournament after rebuying.
- Birthday Bonus (A player's 43 birthday) First person to win a hand where they had both a 4 and a 3 in the playable (5-card) hand.
- Broken Hearts (Valentines Day) Bad Beat bonus, but must hold at least 1 heart in the hole.
- Chip Collector ("New" 25 piece set of antique chips) Each player drew 1 at random as their bounty chip. If you collected an opponent's bounty, you now had an extra bounty chip. First player to collect all 5 colors won.
- Dave's Birthday Bonus (A player's 56th birthday) First person to win a hand where they had both a 5 and a 6 in the playable (5-card) hand.
- End of the World (Last night of the Mayan calendar) PLayer with the most chips when the first player is eliminated after the rebuy period has expired.
- Fall Colors (First day of Autumn) Best winning hand, must hold pocket paint (Jacks or better)
- First to Score (Superbowl weekend) First player to score a knockout.
- Groundhogs Day (Feb 2nd) Predict who will win the tournament that night.
- Hot Streak (Record high temps in Tennessee) First player to win 3 hands in a row.
- Iceageddon (Ice storm) draw 1 pente stone for each hand lost with 3 of a kind or better. Score 1 point for a white stone, 2 if you drew clear, & 3 for ice blue.
- Love the Flush (Installed a new toilet) Best flush (High Hand) made with hearts.
- Lucky Hands (St Patrick's Day) The winner of the first hand of the level (at each table) scores a point. Capped at 25 points total (only had 25 Shamrock chips).
- Martin Luther King (MLK Day) 1 point for each hand won with a king as a hole card.
- Mexican Victory (Cinco de Mayo) Each player chose a flag (Mexican or French) before the tournament. The better armed French players got +T200 in their starting stack. Bonus won by the Mexican Player that eliminated the most French players.
- Sack! leader (Superbowl weekend) 1 point for each player eliminated (points were tracked with mini-footballs)
- Tax Return (Tax Day) 1 point for each hand lost with 3 of a kind or better
- Walking Dead (Season Premiere of The Walking Dead) 1 Point for each player eliminated, even if they rebuy.
This system works for us. When I decided to eliminate it, my players immediately voted to have it back - with all the quirks in tact.
Those sound fun!
Who funds the bonus?
Are you asking me?Where did you buy those China bounty chips?
Yeah! Do you have recommendations regarding china bounty chipsAre you asking me?
It's been a long time...I'm not sure I can track down the exact store. My main goal was to find china clays that I could relabel that were in the color that I wanted. I bought the same type in green/fluorescent green first. They created dirty stacks with the Majestics that I had so I bought gray/black instead. I would just go from site to site and find something different than your other chips that can be relabeled. BTW, these chips are very soft clay. I've had several chip and chunk so I replace them occasionally. But if you want to try the greens, I think I have an extra 25 or more lying around.
Thanks guys for the reply! I will continue the search. Those particular chips that @codeman00 showed (which look awesome!) are "china clay" chips specifically known as "Spirit molds". They're one of the earlier brands of china clays. They're no longer produced and are hard to find at retail stores. They have a reputation for being prone to chipping or breaking, but some folks have reported that theirs have stood up well to heavy use.
They're available with stock labels as the "Pyramids Casino" and "Casino da Vinci" lines, and also available as blanks. The bounty chips above have custom labels, so you won't find those exact chips anywhere.
Until recently chipsandgames.com had them on clearance, but as of now they've redesigned their website and it looks like they're no longer listing them for sale. You could give them a call and ask them, they might still have some in stock with a very limited selection of colors.
You can learn more about these chips by reading old forum posts using this google search: https://www.google.com/search?q=siteokerchipforum.com+spirit+mold
Were those bounties made by BRPROPOKER or were they made by the Manufacturer who did the cards mold. They came out great.
